stack-watch is a Unix command-line utility for monitoring activity on the Stack Exchange network of sites. It monitors a given site and tag (optional), and will alert you periodically when updates are detected. Alternatively, stack-watch can periodically show you a list of questions with the most recent activity.

Installation

stack-watch requires libcurl and json-c. These libraries can be installed using the following commands on a Debian-based Linux distribution (such as Ubuntu):

sudo apt-get install libjson0 libjson0-dev
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev

Once those dependencies are in place, stack-watch can be built from source:

make
./stack-watch
