If a plugin were hiding stored data, where would it hide it? #159

Long story short, I'd been using the brilliant WPB2DB plugin and this one - in case the exact thing that happened, happened.

I was running a WP site in a cloud VM setup (which makes it tough to get into the database and the FileSystem as their "logins" are dynamically (re)generated - tied to ENV variables.

Nevertheless, I still have access to my backed up files in Dropbox as well as access to the online backup. For the latter as per this: I require the encryption key which obviously I forgot. Who remembers important stuff like that? :family:

I can either:

  1. Use the backed up data to restore my most important stuffs and things in WP - How
  2. USe the online thingus in which case I need the encryption key

If the latter is more feasible, where could that key be stored (even if in encoded form)?

I am confused!

There is no need to have two backup solutions on your site. Just pick the one you prefer.

WPB2D will have the DB and the files in Dropbox so you can just restore from there.
