(Running on AFTV v1, Android 5.1.1) I've now seen the second occurrence of a GLES-related crash that seems associated with scrolling text in the SPMC UI. @koying, will send you the logcat+debug log link privately via Kodi forum.

@koying Were you able to have a look at the logs and do they reveal anything? Thanks.

mrdally204 commented 7 years ago

Been using this latest build side by side with stable SPMC. I do like it a lot, but can I make a request? Please change the icon for test builds to i can tell without launching which is which :). Thanks again, the fps change for fire tv 2 is great. I didn't realize how bad it was before!

mrdally204 commented 7 years ago

Another side effect to refresh rate switching, when going back to the UI it switches again. I looked and only saw a 50 and 60hz option for the kodi interface. Would it be possible to launch movie > tv switches to refresh rate > stop movie > SPMC stays at its last supported rate (movie rate) and only switch again if content is played with a different rate? It would really improve the experience, especially when watching smaller clips and the tv continues switching each start and stop.

semool commented 7 years ago

thats not a good idea @mrdally204 . i dont want the gui @24p when i stop a movie.

mrdally204 commented 7 years ago

Options my friend. While you don't want 24p UI, I'm not a huge fan of my tv switching at the end of each clip as it is quite disruptive especially if you are watching clip after clip. If we had a choice to keep 50/60 or last switched hz that wouldn't affect your preference :). Now if it's a stupid amount of work for that little payoff I agree it is bad idea.

BigFishStudios commented 7 years ago

Tested this build on AFTV2. I can set the Format to 4k and looks great. Can we build it so that it uses 4k only when playing a 4k video? I see some comments above, but this is what the AFTV2 does for everything, including it's own playback of 4k.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

Hello, i have AFTV2 connected to a 1080p tv. On 16.5 if i playback a 3D sbs file i can't get the picture and overlay to match even if i turn off refresh rate switching and set gui to 60HZ, What i mean is when i play the 3d file, i am then asked what is the format, i choose same as movie (sbs) the gui switches to split screen, but the movie in the background plays in 2d (full screen). If i choose 2d monoscopic then the movie plays split screen which is correct, my tv turns to 3D (mixes the screens) but now the gui is mixed if i press the enter button. On spmc 16.4.2 with the same file and same settings this works perfectly, i choose same as movie, and both the movie and gui become split screen, then 3D mode enables on the tv and the signal mixes perfectly.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

Just to add i have tested the above with 16.4.81 on the Nvidia Shield TV set to 24hz and and the 3D gui switching works as it should, so it seems just a problem with AFTV(2).

Sholi1982 commented 7 years ago

Does anybody have issues playing x265 files on spmc 16.5. All my files crash unless I deselect the acceleration on media codecs. Surely this isn't normal. Never had this issue on any other builds or versions of kodi.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

Does anybody have issues playing x265 files on spmc 16.5. All my files crash unless I deselect the acceleration on media codecs. Surely this isn't normal. Never had this issue on any other builds or versions of kodi. Which box, different boxes require different settings. Don't forget certain things are enabled in SPMC 16.5 that are not in other versions of kodi.

Sholi1982 commented 7 years ago

Hi sorry, it's a FireTv gen1. Only way to get x265 working is to disable all acceleration on media types.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

That's because fire tv gen 1 doesn't support hardware H265 decoding, any playback you may have is being done in software. The reason you did not have this problem in other builds is that hardware acceleration wasn't actually enabling on AFTV1 even if you switched it on.

Sholi1982 commented 7 years ago

Right that makes sense. Would there be a way to get x265 to play via software and leave all other media types to play the accelerated settings or is this not possible to do? Otherwise I'd have to disable everything to put it back to software only for all files for x265 to play, correct?

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

Only koying can answer that I don't know, but he needs to fix my 3D gui problem on AFTV2 first lol.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

I have to say I have been playing a x265 3D file that I encoded my self on 16.4.81 via Nvidia shield and it looked terrible, really soft and blurred I initially thought I had made a mess with the encode, I tried the same file in kodi 17 beta 3 with same media codec settings and it looked superb. Given the 3D gui problems I had on AFTV2 I may swerve using this till a newer build.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

I have received the beta 3.3 shield experience if you need a new build testing Mr....

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

I have to say since i found Lancoz3 Optomised in the settings i have found X265 playback on the shield reasonable, i only thought there was Lancoz3.

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

Two months since the last beta. Still getting random video freezes after multiple skipping on some files.

How about an update, please?

Thanks

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

On what device? what codec are your files using? Have you ever thought Mr Koying has beta firmwares for machines he his trying to introduce enhancements for and releasing to us new software without the firmware he is working with is pointless.

rainman74 commented 7 years ago

16.4.81 + 16.4.82: Audio is not playing if movie was paused, Kodi off/on and movie is restarted.

99rook99 commented 7 years ago

@rainman74 you are going to need to provide logs and what Android box you are using.

rainman74 commented 7 years ago

@99rook99 Log shows no error and box is Fire TV 1st Gen.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

What codec are the files, what are your mediacodec settings, are you trying to enable passthrough audio, help us out a bit...

rainman74 commented 7 years ago

every settings in video is at default, except playback mode is set to "resume". I think it could have to do with adjust display refresh rate = "always", the new SPMC feature.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

@rainman74 are they HEVC files? Do they have AAC audio? The Fire TV 1st gen is not very powerful and doesn't support hardware playback of lots of files. Try turning mediacodec off in both instances.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

@koying do you plan to have any love for Zidoo X9S? Just testing a box, the default player is very good quality, with a bit of work (as with all android players) it could perform very well.

rainman74 commented 7 years ago

@DaMacFunkin no they aren't HEVC files (H264/AC3). The problem can be resolved, if I stop the files with no audio and restart them again, Then audio works perfectly! It's not a problem with the files, but with newest SPMC versions.

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

FireTV 4K 16.4.82: attempting to play any WMV instantly crashes back to the homescreen. I'd upload a log but the uploader add-on gives errors too. Suffice to say, it's repeatable and not an issue with SPMC proper or Kodi 17b5.

guidosarducci commented 7 years ago

@Gertbucket please see this issue I recently created which may be the same thing: #501 . There are also some sample WMV files you could try for comparison. Still waiting for feedback from @koying however.

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

@guidosarducci both of your sample files crashed my Fire TV 4K.

Scotsmania commented 7 years ago

Installed it the other day and so far so good other than judder when watching 25p content and auto refresh rate switching setting the TV at 50hz. I had to use the advancedsettings.xml to tell it to leave the TV at 60hz for 25p content. It's not a big deal as it mostly matters for 24p movies which is working fine with no judder, just a little niggle knowing that 25p worked at 50hz with no judder on windows Kodi.

On AFTV2 and 1080p.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

I doubt you are getting 25p, it is 25i and that is the problem, I think there is another line to add to the advanced settings so it outputs at 50hz correctly.

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

Not a lot of action here. I hope @koying isn't giving up on SPMC.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

Like i said 2 weeks ago maybe he his preparing for Android 7 or something else.

ghost commented 7 years ago

Hi.

Just come across this thread, firstly, respect to Koying for the continued development of an android specific Kodi!

Im running 2 AF Sticks, and I've tried this to get it to change the refresh rate of my TVs but it doesn't do it on either my Samsung or LG TV.

Is this test build onlynda changing the refresh rate of the device on the AFTV and not the sticks?

Thanks

ghost commented 7 years ago

Correction, it looks like it is adjusting the refresh rate of my Samsung TV, will check my LG TV shortly....

ghost commented 7 years ago

It's doesn't seem to want to change the refresh rate of my LG TV.

I have the AFTV stick set to auto, but it stays on 60Hz. If I change the AFTV Stick to a fixed 50Hz it changes the TV rate.

For some reason it isn't automatically changing, only if I change it manually in the AFTV stick display settings...??

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

Unfortunately SPMC is not in a very good place right now.

The official release (16.4.2) frequently freezes video, continues audio, and becomes unresponsive, after skipping forward.

This build (16.4.82) freezes less (though still occasionally) but is terribly unstable - crashes merely trying to open some folders (then opens them fine next attempt), won't play a whole bunch of codecs (I've had problems playing WMV, DV, MPEG, etc), completely exits when attempting to play WMV.

MrMC and the most recent Kodi Krypton nightly seem to both be more stable than SPMC now, having none of the above issues.

We badly need a new release.

mo123 commented 7 years ago

Any chance for a new updated SPMC apk? Would be nice to test the latest code and report bugs. Lot of bugs people reported in this thread might already be fixed in the latest code and users can then report new bugs.

koying commented 7 years ago

I have updated the OP with a RC of 16.5. Please give it a shot for deal-breaker before I release.

Thanks

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

does this still install as test?

koying commented 7 years ago

does this still install as test?

No. It's a real RC.

DaMacFunkin commented 7 years ago

Currently got it streaming HEVC on AFTV2 with HEVC acceleration enabled, seems good. Will this offer any advantage over ZDMC on the Zidoo X9S?

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

Compared to 16.4.2, the lipsync is much better (on par with Kodi 17beta 5) and subtitles now work properly.

On the OSD > Video Settings, Deinterlace Method and Video Scaling Method options are missing. Are these now defined elsewhere?

koying commented 7 years ago

I've reverted to surface by default, as Kodi. You'll have to disable it to get the HD scaler and interlacing options

Vlaves commented 7 years ago

brilliant work :) Just installed the 16.5.0 RC version on my AFTV 2 and its working perfectly :) Resolution switching, sync to display and hardware accelerated tvheadend streams :) Can't ask for more, great work!!! Thanks a lot :)

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

@Koying: Yes, I see that now. I will have to update at least the Shield Wiki for 4K output to recommend that users turn Surface off.

I thought that the default behavior (before your change) was all 4K content including HDR content uses surface rendering and all <4K content uses HQ upscaling with media surface enabled. See https://github.com/koying/SPMC/issues/407

Vlaves commented 7 years ago

@koying One bug I have found in the RC, but as far as I remember it is already documented here as an issue. The IP button in the Keyboard has no function. Apart of that it is really brilliant work, thanks a lot :)

PS: as you are now also considering the Fire TV, please wouldn't it be possible to include a bigger App icon? Thats the only thing I'm missing with SPMC now (16.5.0. RC). I know it is just the look and that there are other things on the priority list, still wanted to ask if it could maybe be considered

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

After disabling surface, I get "SPMC has stopped" every time I stop playback of a video. See plrqp8sjy and pbszm6mct

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

Thanks @koying

Seems much more stable.

Unfortunately, some WMVs still crashing out to the Home Screen: ptw93srxz
