@thomfam Im having the same issue with the default Kodi skin on a 2015 Sheild TV.

Only the 25fff5a release won't crash, but Oz Weather spits out an error.

Will uninstall Oz Weather and try a newer test release.

thomfam commented 7 years ago

"Will uninstall Oz Weather and try a newer test release."

I just turned off "Use extended features" in the Oz Weather settings and now it works OK again and doesn't crash. I had to delete the Oz Weather addon folder to even get SPMC to load again. Then reinstalled Oz Weather and unchecked "Use extended features" in Settings for Oz Weather.

It works perfectly on 17.3 Kodi using exactly the same files copy/pasted from SPMC!

I do use Xonfluence skin.

wrxtasy commented 7 years ago

Time for some more drooling, dribbling, and sticking it to a certain someone then.... ;-)

SPMC 17 Alpha3 (& Kodi Krypton) has working refresh switching, smooth video playback using Mediacodec hardware acceleration and working HD Audio passthrough here on my Marshmallow AML S912, U9-H - due to the quality, bug fixed Firmware from MINIX.

smancuso commented 7 years ago

@thomfam

Cheers! Turing off extended features stopped the crashes even with the latest SPMC test build!

janolapin2016 commented 7 years ago

wrxtasy : We are all very happy for you, unfortunately you are totally off topic from the beginning

SaEt9000 commented 7 years ago

Following confirmation of functionality for AML S905, lollipop (minix U1) with testbuild from 2017-07-03

Audio passthrough is working for android IEC (most, partly) now but not for RAW. With IEC: AC3 and DTS is working, Dolby True HD or ATMOS runs without sound - in this case I have to change the audiostream, DTS:X or others DTS-HD working as DTS (core). I have to disable DTS-HD in the settings.

What else: although aml-codec is still not working or active, with enabled mediacodec (surface) the quality is really good, video runs smooth and with working autoframeswitching.

Good progress ! Waiting excited for the next development-steps and testbuild.

On latest spmc 17.4 rc1 shield tv. When i go to home screen recommendations row , spmc isnt there . I remember it was there on version 16. Is anyone else having this issue? Or maybe it hasnt been implemented yet. It would be cool from the home Screen to touch the search button and look up movie from own collection or add-ons.

semool commented 7 years ago

The automatic video switch for 3d SBS/TAB dont work correct, the gui switch is ok but the video is dissorted. Reversed SBS/TAB on automatic switch? When i switch back to 2D and select the 3d Mode manual again all is fine.

thomfam commented 7 years ago

"On latest spmc 17.4 rc1 shield tv. " SPMC 17.4 RC1 appears fine on my Shield. I have it right along side the SPMC 16.7 version also on my Shield.

Schrotty74 commented 7 years ago

Where can get 17.4 rc1?

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

Anyone recommending this over the release yet?

ziggy73701 commented 7 years ago

Personally, on my Nvidia Shield I now only run this. Previous build been binned off.

veryhotsex2017 commented 7 years ago

Nvidia Shield too, very good way !

In other hands I don't understand why buying any Minix expensive scrappy machine ...

eftavelos commented 7 years ago

Hello, I test all the spmc versions based on krypton 17. All have black screen video with amlogic acceleration open and very bad video only with the other codec. I test it on a gt1 s912 with superceleron last firmware. Furtunatly I found a spmc 17.3 on guru site and I test it without the wizard but a other build and the amcodec hardware works perfect ! But the apk have many crashes when I am trying to move back to see other video e.t.c... I think cause the most people have a amlogic boxies, we need a krypton fork where can work with them with hardware amcodec acceleration, without this, no good video. For the moment, I use the guru apk even I don't know how they made it to works!!! ftmc also, unfutunatly does not have yet krypton s912 version. The problem is that the most builds now, are coming for krypton and not for jarvis.... so it is must a new fork for our boxies. We are poor and we don't have money to buy nvidia.... The kodi creators they don't like the chinies boxies and support only some.... They have as exuse that the firmwares have problems but as i remember, they had before amcodec on old versions of kodi, so they telling us lies... Thanks have a nice day all of you....

ryadre commented 7 years ago

Works pretty well on my shield. Only issues so far is quite often when exiting spmc it freezes and I have to force close it. Also when pausing a show, when I press play again the audio continues straight away but the video takes 5 or 10 seconds to start.

xodidox commented 7 years ago

I always got "File not found" error when opening the web interface at port 8080 in a browser, but the Kore remote control works fine.

thomfam commented 7 years ago

Where can I get 17.4 RC1?

The latest version here (if you haven't already found it) as supplied by 'TheseUserNamesAreMakingMeThirsty'

jeancar09 commented 7 years ago

How to autostart SPMC v17 on boot?

TheseUserNamesAreMakingMeThirsty commented 7 years ago

Look at the Wiki, it's explained there. Or use the app Launch on Boot - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=news.androidtv.launchonboot

CLFNole commented 7 years ago

Do you have to disable Mediacodec in SPMC Krypton to watch HDR like you have to in the Jarvis version?

atomizasser commented 7 years ago

Do you think it is possible to implement autorefresh rate for amlogic S812? thanks

ziggy73701 commented 7 years ago

@CLFNole I THINK it's explained somewhere, but for me on SHIELD you have to have Mediacodec and surface ticked for HDR but you lose the upscaling.

CLFNole commented 7 years ago

Has anyone had problems with their addons? I have 2 that won't open for some reason and can't figure out why.

CLFNole commented 7 years ago

Think my issue above may be due to a problem with Common Plugin Cache. I went to install the addon that isn't working and along with the addon it also installs Common Plugin Cache and I get "failed to start commoncache"

Biscut10 commented 7 years ago

All in all i find RC1 to be running fairly smoothly, with the exception of cache filling up super fast. I just solely watched about 3 hours of IPTV and it's already up to 250mb. Previously I'd be looking at maybe 2.

This isn't anything I've seen on Kodi 17.3 or older Jarvis versions of SPMC. So what has changed to make it do that? I see a few random comments here and there that it's happening, but no real specific direction on a fix. Thanks in advance for any help.

philsqueak commented 7 years ago

@koying https://github.com/koying/SPMC/issues/636 This OLD BUG has returned :(

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

RC1 no problems yet. All plug-ins working.

JFG90 commented 7 years ago

RC2? thought we was still on RC1?

Arkadia2008 commented 7 years ago

The WNBC Add-on (Kodi Add-on Repository) works fine on SPMC 16.7 but not on SPMC 17.4 RC1 (same issue with Kodi Krypton 17.3).

I am running the 7/2 build. My observations include:

HDGuy commented 7 years ago

Please, please, please fix UPnP (if you haven't already). It's one of the more useful features of Kodi and it's totally broken here.

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

I updated the advancedsettings.xml Wiki to reflect Kodi/SPMC 17 changes in cache tags. https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/Sample-advancedsettings.xml

With these settings, I still see skipping 4-5 in codecinfo and brief audio dropout on initial file playback using WebDAV, Nvidia Shield and a GigE connection to a Synology 1817+ NAS. I would expect it to take longer to load a video asset but not have skips or audio drop outs.

mystic99 commented 7 years ago

will this work on nexus player or do I have to wait for an x86 version?

TheseUserNamesAreMakingMeThirsty commented 7 years ago

You can install the ARM version on the Nexus Player fine. In fact in the early days of the NP, the ARM version of Kodi was more stable than the x86 version.

mystic99 commented 7 years ago

thank you hope that there will be a x86 version the near future

janolapin2016 commented 7 years ago

Hey some strange thing happens to my device.. I use this RC1 3rd Alpha since 2 weeks and the picture are better than at the beginning ... !!! I did not upgraded my S912 chinese device (I know there is some 7.1 Nougat available somewhere who may be fit for this TX8 box device...) and I use the same Marshmallow build. Something happens but I dont know what !? The brightness and contrast are good now and I can use this build every days for any movies. Its amazing and miraculous ... 8-)) its miraculous chinese miracle

koying commented 7 years ago

@classicjazz

1) Mmm... ok. Not seen anything like that, but will try to reproduce, time permitting. Same as on Kodi or different? 2) Yep, not yet backported. 3) Yep, I have something on the radar: https://github.com/google/samba-documents-provider Google ported samba 4.5.1 which should properly support SMB2/SMB3

racas78 commented 7 years ago

Hi,

Anyone has got a problem with Itasa Add-on (subs service)? I set user and password correct, but I cam't download any subs. The error message says the login is not correct. I'm using the last Spmc Krypton version.

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

@koying

  1. I just emailed you some screenshots showing what I see. I haven't reinstalled Kodi yet to compare though I expect them to be similar.

  2. I saw that you had backported GLES HQ upscalers. I look forward to a build to test them with the Wiki settings.

  3. It's good to see the SMB2 support on Android as a possibility.

  4. I have experienced several hangs that eventually led to automatic reboots of the Shield with the 7/3 build. I uploaded a log after reboot. Can't give you an ID because there's still the stretching of the confirmation dialog box.

  5. With Vulkan being the preferred graphics API for Android going forward, have you kept an eye on work being done by MPV's developer here? https://github.com/haasn/mpv/tree/vulkan/video/out/vulkan

janolapin2016 commented 7 years ago

Hey people ! If I disable all hardware acceleration medicodecs and mediacodec surface (excepted Amlogic) this build do not use it and the movies play with "ff" software encoder... There is something wrong. Why this build use ff encoder instead of amlogic hardware acceleration which is enabled ? This is not the case with jarvis spmc/ftmc. In other hand I can adjust brighness/contrast with ff encoder, but I can not adjust it when played with amlogic or mediacodecs (am-amc) is this normal ?

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

Using Next Up Service Notification (with post play screen disabled) causes SPMC to crash immediately after the end of a TV episode and before the next one starts.

wrxtasy commented 7 years ago

Still have not worked it out yourself huh ?

Ok to put you out of your misery:

Welcome to Android MediaCodec standards

@koying has just not gotten around to Nuking the SPMC/Krypton amcodec acceleration settings option yet. ;-)

janolapin2016 commented 7 years ago

I understood perfectly what you say everywhere on all forum, so needless to waste your time to repeat indefinitely the same litany... because in same time I am pretty sure that koying can do something like he did with jarvis spmc fork you know

SaEt9000 commented 7 years ago

Hi, I think the question for amlcodec acceleration is a valid question. Because it is available on SPMC 17 alpha but it is not working one some (or all ?) AML-devices yet. I saw in spmc.log that the amlcodec is not starting because of missing permissions. Interesting: the new xbmc-minix 17.3 alpha has the same issue on minix U1 (aml S905). So: it could be, there is something to change or to add in SPMC, it could mean as well, that there are additional access-rights needed and the firmware has to be changed or the device has to be rooted or whatever. I think, we should be patiently; it would be nice to hear from @koying , how he sees the situation. Does he plan to improve the compatibility of amlcodec or find a fix or is the amlcodec in SPMC 17 a relict of former SPMC-versions only ? OR is it really a thing of the firmware - then would we (the users of these AML-devices) have to contact the vendors.

classicjazz commented 7 years ago

@koying

Another bug: you are supposed to define your MySQL config in advancedsettings.xml.

I changed the IP address of my MySQL server and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working after updating my advancedsettings.xml file. It appears that the reason is that there is a redundant MySQL config in guisettings.xml now. And, unless you delete that, SPMC looks at guisettings.xml as authoritative, ignoring any differences in advancedsettings.xml.

wrxtasy commented 7 years ago

I understood perfectly what you say everywhere on all forum, so needless to waste your time to repeat indefinitely the same litany... because in same time I am pretty sure that koying can do something like he did with jarvis spmc fork you know

This is where Amcodec and its bypass rendering method (using AML internal clock) was given the last rites and finally killed off for Kodi Krypton: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/9152

Kodi clock is then used for timing instead of the previous AML internal clock. A/V Sync changed permanently from that point onwards for AMLogic devices. Unless Koying is miracle worker I seriously doubt Amcodec is coming back.

Does he plan to improve the compatibility of amlcodec or find a fix or is the amlcodec in SPMC 17 a relict of former SPMC-versions only ? OR is it really a thing of the firmware - then would we (the users of these AML-devices) have to contact the vendors.

The only thing I can think of that needs amlcodec for Krypton is for reliable high quality Hardware deinterlacing - which is a bit broken at the moment. Virtually all other playback works in Krypton provided your device has bug busted quality Firmware.

Android nougat 7 seem to be fix the dark picture issue

Gertbucket commented 7 years ago

Been a while since the RC. Any news?

99rook99 commented 7 years ago

Just a guess here, but I'm thinking we won't see SPMC 17 till after Kodi 17.4 gets released

JFG90 commented 7 years ago

Why do you think that?
