Just updated from the Feb to March Play update and still no joy. Activating VoWifi from pixel IMS shows the option in the phone settings and doesn't cause the device to unregister however, as soon as the VoWifi is activated from the phone settings IMS status is unregistered. I have tried the calling Preferences in settings to "Call over mobile network if mobile network is unavailable, use Wi-Fi" and it remains registered however, as soon as signal drops it's unavailable to connect using VoWifi
I have exactly the same issue on my Pixel 7 after the march update. Enabling VoLTE seems to work okay and works, Enabling VoWifi causes the IMS status to go unregistered (worked perfectly prior to the march update). I am on Lebara (UK).
IMS 1.2.8
It works for me on latest update. When connected to WiFi and VoWiFi is enabled, VoLTE will be disabled and vice versa. Both are working.

@phush0 can you be more specific. Which versions of what and on which device?
For me, it's no longer working on:
Basically the same as @maxmurachward except for I have Pixel 6a instead of 7.

Just tried April security patch Ims registration stil fails when vowifi is enabled UK Lebara P8pro
It looks like the original issue of Pixel IMS not working completely has been partially resolved, as VoLTE is working. But VoWiFi seems completely broken. Which is interesting.
Mine is still working after the April update P7....all works well VoLTE, VoWiFi and Back up calling
Mine is still working after the April update P7....all works well VoLTE, VoWiFi and Back up calling
Not to be rude, but I've seen this comment like the 10th time here. This issue is focused on people that are experiencing issues with VoWiFi.
On another note, can you attach your carrier and country btw.
Hi @fillwithjoy1 ,
I'm just giving feedback on my experience that's all and by the way, I have also send the setting and Carrier too above in my post above
Hey guys,
After the March security update, VoWiFi stopped working on my Pixel 8 Pro on the Yettel network in Hungary with PixelIMS. I waited for the April update, but VoWiFi is still broken. When I turn on VoWiFi in PixelIMS, IMS becomes unregistered.
But I found a workaround! I don't know if it will work for you, but give it a try.
Add a manual APN:
(Note: I previously used this apn setting: https://xdaforums.com/t/how-to-enable-volte-vowifi-in-unsupported-countries-without-root-requires-shizuku.4637959/ but it seems Google has broken it for some Pixel models. For example, Pixel 8 with Yettel SIM still works with PixelIMS.)
Before adding the new APN: Tap on the three dots in the top right corner and select "Reset to default"
Here's the new APN (case-sensitive)
Name: ims APN: ims Authentication type: none APN type: ims APN protocol: IPv6 APN roaming protocol: IPv6
Save the APN. The new ims APN will remain listed, but VoWiFi should start working immediately for you.
P.S.: At first, I tried setting IPv4 for both APN protocols. The Dialer showed the VoWiFi and HD icons, but when I turned on airplane mode, VoWiFi didn't work. So, I tried with IPv6, and calling now works with airplane mode enabled.
Sorry for pinging multiple people but we need to keep tabs on what's wrong and what's going right.
@Fbx2000 @ParanoiaP @farzadmaham @Artiom9 @sepehrmoh81 I'm just wondering if VoLTE is still broken on your ends.
@Fbx2000 @DoSpamu @maxmurachward @dransome @snowdej It's possible that the reply above could be a solution, as I've seen sometimes IPv6 is required. On another note, about 3 of you who have noticed the VoWiFi not working are all on lebara UK. Not sure if it means something, but it could mean that a solution that works for one of yous will likely work across all of yous. (grammar is hard)
On Lebara myself, unfortunately unable to add/edit APNs due to Lebara restricting this ability.
As for Adding another APN including IMS type. I had tried this weeks ago.
It does not work.
When I add another APN and try save anything with an APNTYPE set I get a popup on the phone saynig "this carrier does anot allow APNType : *.'
I think that somehow lebara UK are blocking this.
The carrier supplied APN used to be editable - but now it is greyed out - in fact you have to really trick Android in to allowing another APN to be added.
@fillwithjoy1 Unfortunately it's still broken. I already tried using the ims APN with IPv6 and no luck. (I never thought it would work in the first place since we don't even have IPv6 adaptation here.
On Lebara myself, unfortunately unable to add/edit APNs due to Lebara restricting this ability.
I've seen a few mentions of Lebara specifically. I was using the patch as volte and vowifi didn't work on my 6a with Lebara. This meant I stopped recieving calls when 3g got turned off! The patch stopped working after the March update but once I disabled it I realised volte works by default now. There are no menu options but calls show the hd symbol and ims registration shows available for volte.
VoLTE works (Lebara UK). (Pixel IMS does enable them VoWiFi options in the settings) however, as soon as VoWiFi toggle (in the phone settings, not in the Pixel IMS app) is activated then IMS status turns to unregistered and VoLTE stops working For some reason I cannot edit or add APNs on my P7P as it's grayed out. I have tried to fiddle around with apps such as Hidden settings (com.netvor.hiddensettings) which allows an APN to be added but wasn't successful. TBH I have no clue about APN however, I followed to previous users recommendations but it was requiring MCC and MNC which I only assumed are 234 , 15 for Lebara UK. As Lebara is a virtual operator I have also attempted the same settings with the addition of MVNO type :SPNMVNO value : LebaraWorth noting that after adding the APN using hidden settings it doesn't show up in the APN list (only the grayed out Lebara default APN) Name: imsAPN: imsAuthentication type: noneAPN type: imsAPN protocol: IPv6APN roaming protocol: IPv6MVNO type :SPNMVNO value : LebaraThanks On 4 Apr 2024 11:42, Joy @.***> wrote: @Fbx2000 @ParanoiaP @farzadmaham @Artiom9 @sepehrmoh81 I'm just wondering if VoLTE is still broken on your ends. @Fbx2000 @DoSpamu @maxmurachward @dransome @snowdej It's possible that the reply above could be a solution, as I've seen sometimes IPv6 is required. I have already a IMS configuration added to APNs but with IPv4. I changed it to IPv6 and it seems work. I'm from Poland, operator - Play
Wifi turned off: Wifi turned on: Dostepne mean = available Zarejestrowane = registered
Wifi icon is showing when i turn on a airplane mode, but HD icon (it's VoLTE i quess?) not showing everytime, why?
I am from Iran. Unfortunately with simcards of two cell phone network operators of my country(mci and mtn), VoLte is not working.ims is not registered in PIXELIMS but VoLte and ViLte items are added to simcard settings of phone But when I want to call, Lte network switches to H or 3G. I do not use VoWifi. Before of march update it was working. I am now on April update with P6P.
On Lebara myself, unfortunately unable to add/edit APNs due to Lebara restricting this ability.
Can you get Pixel IMS to force enable APNs at all? Look into the Expert Mode of the settings and set to true for "allow_adding_apns_bool" and "apn_expand_bool"

The HD logo depends if both parties support HD calling. If you don't have it even though you are on Wi-Fi, its probable that the other party doesn't support HD calling
@jsymon @snowdej @Fbx2000
Thanks for getting back to me. It's definitely odd that you cannot add APNs. I'd check the Pixel IMS's Expert Mode and see if you can toggle:
If that doesn't help, take a screenshot of what your phone shows when you type "apn" into Expert Mode as I've shown below. Possibly we can find a value to bypass the restriction placed on your phones'

@fillwithjoy1 my settings were already as you suggested - still no option to add APNs. Screenshots attached.

Thanks for your attention. Both are true and my apn settings part is :

Yes. Before march update in p6p it worked with Galaxy S8 plus works too like the screenshot below:
but in p6p and now that info you asked is :
I'm unsure what calling technologies are available for your country, but have you checked with another device on the same operator and that 4G calling works at all?
The operator currently supports VoLTE (for years) and Video calling (which I've never tested). I also own an A50 and an old Huawei P10, and can confirm VoLTE working on both. With Pixel IMS I had it working until my first Android 14 beta upgrade, which required the ims APN for VoLTE to work. Now It's completely broken. I'm hoping @farzadmaham and I could provide enough details and logs to fix the problem.
@fillwithjoy1 my settings were already as you suggested - still no option to add APNs. Screenshots attached.
Noticed read_only_apn_types_string_array is set to [*] which is All. Set it to empty, and it should read (null) if you have put an empty value
Update, tried a second time, back to not working again 😕
You did it, it worked!
Nice. I'm on Lebara in the UK. This got it working:
read_only_apn__types_string_array
and tap it[]
ims
as the value for:
You can try calling your voicemail number to see if the WiFi symbol appears on the active call.
Thanks all!
I can confirm these settings. I've reset everything and tried again and still no luck. Seems it works for the first time, then no longer.
I'm on lebara UK with a Pixel 6 Pro on latest April update. VoLTE is now available natively but enabling VoWIFI broke IMS. However adding the new APN as per kebab above fixes it and I can make VoWIFI calls again.
Its going to be a bit of a pain to have to manually edit the expert setting each month so hopefully this can be fixed in the pixel IMS app
Nice. I'm on Lebara in the UK. This got it working:
In pixel IMS
Enable VOLTE - selected
Enable VoWiFi - selected
Allow adding APNS - selected
Expert settings
find
read_only_apn__types_string_array
and tap itpress the bin icon to delete the value (I think it's was a star previously), and save
its value then appears as
[]
In Android's settings
search for access point names
Press the plus to add a new one
put
ims
as the value for:Name, APN, APN type
press the 3-dot menu and choose save
if you go back into the newly created APN, the MCC MNC and MVNO fields got automatically populated with Lebara's values
In the phone app's settings > calls > WiFi calling
- Turn WiFi calling on (or turn it off n on)
You can try calling your voicemail number to see if the WiFi symbol appears on the active call.
Thanks all!
Just tried this on my pixel 7 and it works! Thanks very much for finding this workaround!
Great. That's several of us so seems a confirmed fix albeit requiring several extra steps than before. Would it be possible to create a sort of one step fix in the IMS app?
I've reset everything and tried again and still no luck. Seems it works for the first time, then no longer.
@jsymon unsure what you mean by this (specifically: "reset everything and tried again" and "works for the first time, then no longer").
For me, the workaround survives a reboot, and also handles multiple successive calls. What more do you need?
Just to chime in that the above steps have worked for me on Lebara UK. Thanks to all who put their thoughts in and @Kebab for typing up the steps.

Update 2; working again. I made one call, which worked over WiFi, then another which came up with the old error message. I switched WiFi calling off, deleted the APN, reset advanced mode values, restarted the phone, then started all steps from the beginning and it started working again.
The steps did work for me Now the apn is created I am not sure that a monthly security update will mess with it or delete it. My reasoining here is that I added a new APN during march - I did not get the settings right though, because of the "read_only_apn__types_string_array" being set. However that failed APN of mine that had the lebara settings in was NOT deleted when I applied the April security patch. In fact I used that existing failed APN to set the type to IMS which allowed it to work.
Maybe it would be nice if the ims Launcher app could "remove / delete the *" from read_only_apn__types_string_array when choosing the allow Add APN function?
The Add APN is allowing the + sign to be tapped in APN settings. However to truly add a new, useful, APN the read_only_apn__types_string_array needs to be removed.
Update; Decided to stop working again (no change my side) Update 2; realised the problem - the original steps included instructions to set the auth type to none and set APN transport type to IPV6. Do not do this! Literally just specify the three ims values above and no more.
Nice. I'm on Lebara in the UK. This got it working:
* In pixel IMS * Enable VOLTE - selected * Enable VoWiFi - selected * Allow adding APNS - selected * Expert settings * find `read_only_apn__types_string_array` and tap it * press the bin icon to delete the value (I think it's was a star previously), and save * its value then appears as `[]` * In Android's settings * search for access point names * Press the plus to add a new one * put `ims` as the value for: * Name, APN, APN type * press the 3-dot menu and choose save * if you go back into the newly created APN, the MCC MNC and MVNO fields got automatically populated with Lebara's values * In the phone app's settings > calls > WiFi calling * Turn WiFi calling on (or turn it off n on)

aha, so my suspicion was right. I'll write up a PR to add to docs about this

Thank you so much, can confirm it works for me too, Pixel 7 on Lebara UK. Does Shizuku stay running for you after rebooting your phone? It doesn't on mine, I have to re-enable the WiFi debug and restart Shizuku any time I reboot the phone.
Yes, the Shizuku service does not run constantly - but this is only required to turn WiFi calling on, not required once it's enabled.

Thank you so much, can confirm it works for me too, Pixel 7 on Lebara UK. Does Shizuku stay running for you after rebooting your phone? It doesn't on mine, I have to re-enable the WiFi debug and restart Shizuku any time I reboot the phone.

Update; Decided to stop working again (no change my side) Update 2; realised the problem - the original steps included instructions to set the auth type to none and set APN transport type to IPV6. Do not do this! Literally just specify the three ims values above and no more.
This worked me as well, using a p7pro on Lebara!
Not working since March Update on P7P. Whilst it was working for the last few months, After the update March 5th update the IMS status was unregistered. I updated to the latest version and tried again to register again but no Joy
