Not working since Google March Update (P7,P7P,P8,P8P,P6,P6P) #277

Closed Fbx2000 closed 1 month ago

Fbx2000 commented 6 months ago

Not working since March Update on P7P. Whilst it was working for the last few months, After the update March 5th update the IMS status was unregistered. I updated to the latest version and tried again to register again but no Joy

Fbx2000 commented 5 months ago

Update; Decided to stop working again (no change my side) Update 2; realised the problem - the original steps included instructions to set the auth type to none and set APN transport type to IPV6. Do not do this! Literally just specify the three ims values above and no more. Screenshot_20240406-140738

This worked me as well, using a p7pro on Lebara!

Agree, a couple days ago I Posted a clear list of steps and screenshots of the Lebara UK working setup for anyone to easily follow.

It seems VoLTE is not a problem for you guys in UK but in my case VoLTE is not working and also my carrier doesn't support VoWiFi at all (but it fully supports VoLTE)

beerman-uk commented 5 months ago

Nice. I'm on Lebara in the UK. This got it working:

* In pixel IMS

  * Enable VOLTE - selected
  * Enable VoWiFi - selected
  * Allow adding APNS - selected
  * Expert settings

    * find `read_only_apn__types_string_array` and tap it
    * press the bin icon to delete the value (I think it's was a star previously), and save
    * its value then appears as `[]`

* In Android's settings

  * search for access point names
  * Press the plus to add a new one
  * put `ims` as the value for:

    * Name, APN, APN type
  * press the 3-dot menu and choose save
  * if you go back into the newly created APN, the MCC MNC and MVNO fields got automatically populated with Lebara's values

* In the phone app's settings > calls > WiFi calling

  * Turn WiFi calling on (or turn it off n on)

You can try calling your voicemail number to see if the WiFi symbol appears on the active call.

Thanks all!

That worked for me on Lebara. Thanks

I have the same issue after March update. All settings are set, but the IMS still unregistered. The VoLTE is not even working :(

Tried to go downgrade my P7 to Feb version of Android 14, still not working..

I don't know how to help anyone here. I don't know why it's happening.

Thanks for all of your work! I think it's up to Google now and hopefully they can do something about it

I updated a pixel 7 using UK talkmobile

It was not working at first, but having got a pixel 8 on lebara working with the IMS Access Point...

I added the IMS APN and it worked. The extra hurdle to clear on lebara regarding being able to add an APN was not needed on talk mobile.

You could just follow the same instructions above for lebara and the "read_only_apn__types_string_array" will already be correct.

I have not had to delete the read_only_apn__types_string_array key again after an update, even on lebara as once the IMS apn exists the security update on my p7 did not delete it.

just updated to 5th May Security patch

I just had the use pixel IMS to re-enable vowifi volte.

The IMS APN I already had stayed in place - so no need to repeat the whole expert settings and adding an extra APN.

Same here, Lebara UK on a Pixel 7, after updating to the May security patch all I had to do was re-enabling VoWiFi on IMS and reboot the phone once. Wifi calls settings survived the reboot.

IMS unregistered after march update and the ones released after. Carrier Airtel Bangladesh.

Same with me. Carrier Skitoo( Grameenphone) Bangladesh. Although Robi and Banglalink works, in my test.

khaberz commented 4 months ago

China Telecom VoLTE still works with May update installed - IMS registered, calls working.

kyujin-cho commented 4 months ago

Looks like majority of the symptoms can be remedied by adding an additional APN; I'll update the documentation to address about the solution.

Please note that the APN solution is for guys with broken VoWiFi, VoLTE is not an issue for them
In my case VoLTE doesn't work at all (IMS Status: unregistered)
(My Carrier: MTN Irancell)

Following these steps https://github.com/kyujin-cho/pixel-volte-patch/issues/277#issuecomment-2042453159 I was able to get VOWiFi working again but now that's all I have. I can't make or recieve calls unless I'm on WiFi. If I disable it WiFi calling in Phone settings and reboot my phone it works again but then obviously no WiFi calling. Lebara UK, Pixel 6, Graphene OS

Revert the changes you made and follow the original guide, as it started working again for me. Pixel 7 on Lebara UK.

Adding an additional IMS APN doesn't work for me. From the March update in spite of doing everything the IMS remains unregistered. As a result, I had to revert to February update to continue using VoLTE with the Pixel IMS app. I also tried the Android 15 beta version which yields the same result. Device: Pixel 6 Carrier: Airtel Bangladesh (Only provides VoLTE, VoWifi is not provided)

Hi everyone, I've found a fix for those who are facing problems with volte and vowifi afrer the march update.

Just grab the modem.img from any QPR1 ota rom (preferably February update) and flash the modem file with this fastboot command

fastboot flash modem_a modem.img
fastboot flash modem_b modem.img

Your bootloader has to be unlocked. (Working with GP in Bangladesh) **Got the tip from someone at a telegram group, and it worked for me.

How did you enable volte for gp?

How did you enable volte for gp?

I'm using skitto, but they are kinda same. Enable with the code from here

If that doesn't work, Contact the customer care for enabling Volte.

I believe android 14 itself is the issue as mentioned in #136 from the first build until now, at least for me
So I don't think flashing modem from feb update helps me
I wish there were some methods that we could enable VoLTE with root, and I think something new is required as I already tried all magisk modules without success (those that only overwriting some system props values)
If anyone found a new root solution please share it in #292
Thanks
