Slow download on Kodi/LibreELEC #1

Hi, I notice a difference in the access/download speeds between a desktop computer browser and kodi. Would it possible to adjust how the raspberry 4 declares itself to Arte’s video server and request a 480p video at the beginning then a 720p video after. This greatly reduces the load on server while searching for an interesting document.

Thanks you so much for your great plugin, it enables us to interesting public-financed materials. I love kodi and I love Arte’s programs. ;)

Humm Good idea ! Unfortunately, I don't use Kodi anymore... I can't test :(

This plugin is soooo Old, I'm very surprised that it always work :)

Hi Mathieu,

Yes it is very surprising it still works! Means you did a good job.

I am not a coder in any way, but I use python for scientific data analysis.

If you need I can help you figure out with Arte’s people how to improve this plugin and even send you a Rpi3 for that purpose (I am in France). I believe the application can be installed on any architecture of any operating system as well, but the limitation I thing is related to the LibreElec implementation of the plugin.

I you cannot spend time on it, I can try to modify it, but it means it will be a mess for quite some time, until I get to understand what to do...

Let me know what is your option, I believe it will be much faster for you to have a look and just plug the finding of the Arte’s server-API in your original code.

Thank you Mathieu for all theses sweet words but I only made some "little" corrections on this plugin : https://github.com/AddonScriptorDE/plugin.video.arte_tv, you should thank @AddonScriptorDE first !

As you, I know Python code, but more for my hobby time... I rewritted a part of the original plugin for my own purpose because the previous developer couldn't modify it.

Since 2014 (where I was just father of 1 kid), I have now 3 kids and I manage a team of 6 people in a pretty big company... I started dozen of other projects and for example, right now I spend all my free time to print covid faceshield because for me it's important to help people that are exposed to the virus.

I just have no more free time to help you, but I think that you can do it, and I'm pretty sure you'll succeed because It matter for you ;)

Just fork my repo and try, you can't break anything ! The open source community will thank you and you'll learn that you are able to change a little part of the world as you wish to, that why open source exists :)
