I think a good approach is to, as you mention, make a reference to the RPB releases. My intent is that eventually this entire repo can be deprecated. However, in order to do that, we'll need to incorporate the other targets in this tree back into the RPB tree, and find if that is desired. Currently, we also support qemu 32-bit, and FVP 64-bit. We intend to also support at least qemu 64-bit, and possibly other targets that are supported by the main OP-TEE build.
Also, we're currently using this oe-optee layer for some private development, and this lives in a branch in a private repo, because this code is not publicly accessible.

Since OP-TEE is now integrated into RPB (Debian and OE) and successfully tested on HiKey, it will be nice to add a reference to README.md file.
I'm referring to "Although made for development, this OE tree is not supported". We have a supported OE layer (meta-96boards, meta-rpb, meta-linaro).
