Master the CRUDiverse #207

Open noam-honig opened 9 months ago

The state of the CRUD web app is, well, still cruddy. In the words of Joel Spolsky, "Why does it still take the same amount of work to make a CRUD web app as it always has?!" But it does not have to be that way.

In this talk, I will show you how you can easily master creating a full-stack CRUD application, using open-source tools and code that is easy to write, follow, and, most importantly - maintain.

We will start by reviewing the different elements of CRUD, from model types to APIs, validation, and authorization. And discuss the evolution from the separate front-end and backend to full-stack frameworks and beyond.

We'll continue with a live coding session where we'll take a typical front-end React app and turn it into a full-stack CRUD application, with an end-to-end CRUD-safe API, validation, authentication and authorization, and even deploy to the cloud using nodejs, express and remult.

By the end of this session, you will have the tools and knowledge to master the CRUDiverse.

Notes

  1. A similar talk that I did in Node TLV 2023, was given the best rank in that conference (4.6) See it on youtube and in the last We Are Developers Congress in Berlin, my talk was given the rank of 4.88
  2. I can do the talk in 20 minutes but I would prefer a 35-minute slot if possible
  3. I'm from Israel, and I'll be in London to speak at the NDC conference - thus, my available dates are January 31st to February 2nd

Hi @noam-honig - I hope you are well? I'm just assessing the feasibility of a meetup later this month. Are you still planning to be in London around the 31st January?

noam-honig commented 5 months ago

Yes, I will be.

Hi Noam, looks like LNUG is off for January's meetup - we've had a couple setbacks in our organising things and are all a bit stretched to make it happen. Are you likely to be back in town any time later in the year?

noam-honig commented 5 months ago

Not sure yet, will let you know if I do .

Thanks for getting back to me
