Hi again @AnnHier We had a quick question re: the latest batch of videos. Are these versions that qualify for CEUs if team members who assist with the final pass could earn them? Thanks!

@jessfroe If they are closed captioned and essentially final, then we can tell Elizabeth that we're ready to pilot and she will send the pilot testers the pilot review form they need to complete for each video they view. They will have to time themselves going through the video, and they'll have to take the evaluation and post-test. Once the videos are approved for accreditation, they can get CEU credit.

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

@branscombj and @jessfroe, we're waiting for approval to caption this last batch just in case! We can begin now as you check them off, just let us know. The ones previously posted HAVE been updated to include the final chime animation, but since it comes at the end it should "break" the caption files we've already done. I hope that makes sense! Thanks!

lzim commented 5 years ago

@jessfroe (and FYI: @staceypark)

Will you please add the MTL Video Post-Production milestone https://github.com/lzim/teampsd/milestone/22 to each card in the document_tracker?

That way as @branscombj and @dlkibbe go through the describe_learner column for the SEE guides and the depend_products column for videos, we will know what % of the videos have been reviewed and how many remain before this milestone is complete on the Team PSD side.

I want to give @AnnHier and @Bowlied an estimate today about our % complete, and provide an estimate about how much longer before every video will have been reviewed.

lzim commented 5 years ago

Thanks @jessfroe for your work on this today 🏆

Based on the week-by-week plan we crafted at the HQ meeting, which you will populate to the depend_products column, we expect we will release to EES fully reviewed videos in batches of 6 videos each Friday COB, until all have been throughly reviewed on 10/18.

Jessilyn, will you please put the due dates on the depend_products column, review it with @branscombj and @dlkibbe and then relay the schedule that we made to @AnnHier and @Bowlied?

Thanks again, everyone for all the hard work! 💪

Lindsey

@lzim @jessfroe @Bowlied @AnnHier @dlkibbe It sounds like the plan is to have the videos finalized/quality-checked but not piloted in time for accreditation before launch. We could potentially let participants in the r01/iir teams choose to view them without credit or sign up as pilot testers and get credit - but this might affect the research, providing incentive for some individuals who might do "extra work" and get a larger dose?

Right @branscombj I'm going to work on this piece with EES after we get the

  1. document_tracker schedule implemented across all the columns
  2. Updated schedule table posted here by @jessfroe
jessfroe commented 5 years ago

Here is the video review schedule: FYI @branscombj @dlkibbe @lzim

Date Videos
9/6 S06, S05 (as many as possible)
9/13 S07, rest of S05
9/20 S08, S04
9/27 S09, S03
10/4 S10, S02
10/11 S11, S01
10/18 S12

Just posting my email here for clarity HQ made some decisions yesterday regarding the MTL Video review schedule, and found a way to streamline the process for you both and the team. Rather than ping you on each individual video depend card in the document_tracker, we included due dates in the header of the issue itself, that way you are able to easily see a snapshot of the upcoming due dates and stay on track.

Our idea was that videos would be reviewed AFTER the session had already taken place and documentation had been updated, so that editing the videos for content was most efficient and accurate.

Because we are behind schedule, we have doubled up the due dates for some videos, but it shouldn’t add much extra work due to S01-04 and S11 & 12 only having one video a piece.

Debbie, I remember we discussed having a video review checklist, but Lindsey had a good point yesterday – the hope is that the documentation checklist within each card would serve as a checklist for all sources of documentation, videos included. I do think the checklist has the necessary items to ensure videos are correctly edited.

lzim commented 5 years ago

Thanks @jessfroe !!!

Let's also work with @staceypark to put together a complete table of the document_tracker schedule for the training meeting next week, since this is only covering the depend_videos and not the other columns.

👍

Hi @AnnHier

@lzim noticed that the font and style of the outro logo is different when compared to the (correct) intro logo. Could this be addressed please?

The correct intro example:

The incorrect outro example:

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Hi @jessfroe, I think our graphic designer used the same font that was given us in the original "Test don't guess" slide, but I could be wrong - I don't have an eye for fonts! Do you want to change the entire slide's fonts "Modeling to Learn" along with "Test. Don't guess" to (if I remember correctly) Myriad Pro? Or just "Test. Don't guess." ? Thanks!

jessfroe commented 5 years ago

@lzim do we have any reference point for @AnnHier and her team to use for the outro sequence? It should be Myriad Pro, and that might be a variation, but it looks as though it is bold when it shouldn't be.

lzim commented 5 years ago

@jessfroe and @AnnHier

Thanks, yes, we can make sure the “Test. Don’t Guess” illustrator file is uploaded here: https://github.com/lzim/teampsd/tree/master/resources/logos We have other MTL logos that do have the .ai file uploaded there, which can be checked for the exact Myriad Pro font used.

At the same time, as @jessfroe points out it does look like the outro font may be Myriad Pro, but not the same “correct” Myriad Pro that you all already animated for us in the Intro of the videos (above).

Let us know if the Intros EES made is enough of a lead or not.

Thanks All!

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Hi @lzim and @jessfroe, I asked our graphic artist about it - here's his response. I am not sure he can "import" the font into our animation software.

_"Hi Ann,

The Myraid Pro font is no longer available with the most recent After Effects software update so that’s why I chose the Arial font. It was the most compatible looking substitute font. This happens often with software updates which causes frustration on many levels. Not much I can do with this.

Eric"_

Let me know what you want to do - we can leave it static, which I think would involve the original image, or we can change both fonts to something similar (in the intro and outro).

staceypark commented 5 years ago

@lzim @AnnHier If we want to keep the branding consistent and have animation... What if we made the intro and outro images instead of text? Where we supply all of the intro & outro slides with the correct text and font type as an image, and the arrow slides into the image (instead of using After Effects to create the text)?

That would only be 13 image files from us (one for each of the 12 sessions, and one for all of the outro which are the same). And it would possibly resolve the issue?

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Hi @lzim, I will send this to our graphics person - do you mean you will create the animation as well? What file type would they be, do you know?

Thanks! We appreciate the teamwork!

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Stand down - we may have a solution in the works - our editor has the older version of After Effects on his computer and still has the right font. I think we can use it.

jessfroe commented 5 years ago

@AnnHier We have completed a few batches of video review, and are tracking potential changes in our document_tracker (which can be found at mtl.how/document) under the "depend_products" column.

@dlkibbe has done a fabulous job recording changes there. Could you review the following issue numbers to determine if this format will be sufficient for you and your team to understand what changes we'd like made?

Session 05: #558 Session 06: #553 Session 07: #552

Thanks!

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

@jessfroe - hi! Are these all listing new changes, separate from the excel document from before? Is there any way for us to document and compile this second round of changes to an excel spreadsheet as well, tabbed by video the way it was before? I just want to make sure when I hand this off to the editors that they're able to compare it to the popups they've already added to each video, etc. Thanks - hope that makes sense.

jessfroe commented 5 years ago

@AnnHier Yes, totally makes sense! I am 99.9% sure they are new changes, but I will be cross-referencing both documents to double check. I am more than happy to create an excel spreadsheet for you and your team, and could turn to this either tomorrow or Thursday - is that okay?

Thanks again!

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

@jessfroe Absolutely - no rush - I am out of town right now on a remote shoot and won't get back in the office until next week anyways! :)

Thanks again.

jessfroe commented 5 years ago

@AnnHier Hello hello Ann! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! 😃

I just finished uploading the current video edits we have for S05, S06 and S07 to the OSF project: https://osf.io/wzf7k/

It looks like we are missing S06 SP, but I will add that as soon as possible. I'll continue to update the excel spreadsheet weekly and ping you here so you and your team know there are new updates.

Thanks so much! I tried to clarify the wording as much as possible, but please let me know how I can help if any instructions are unclear.

FYI @lzim

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Thanks, @jessfroe - I think we might talk about this tomorrow on our call; but I know @Bowlied wants to make sure we tackle this in a timely manner as possible, so these latest changes may stymie that a bit; so we'll talk about how best to proceed. I don't have an OSF login, but I think I was able to navigate to some of the listed changes, and at first blush, it looks like this review is being treated as a second opportunity for further graphics additions as opposed to just corrections. Again, I am sure we'll talk about this tomorrow. In the meantime, please make sure that any wording used for popups is VERBATIM exactly how the team wishes it to be worded, punctuated, capitalized, etc. I think the graphics artist took all the wording, spelling and punctuation directly from the excel sheet last time, and it appears there are some issues with it, so we want to avoid that.

Let me know if there's another way to get the edits to me outside the OSF site in the meantime. Thanks!

staceypark commented 5 years ago

@dlkibbe @branscombj FYI ^

branscombj commented 5 years ago

@staceypark @dlkibbe I see Ann's point about additions vs edits. I think it would be best for HQ to identify and delete any proposed popups that don't rise to the level of importance for being added. From pings I've gotten from Debbie's work on the videos, it seems there may also be question marks she left for HQ to adjudicate.

I will gladly volunteer to do a copy-editing comb-through of all the final revisions after those decisions/questions are settled. It would take a long time for me to give all 36 videos a 2nd pair of eyes.

jessfroe commented 5 years ago

@AnnHier I really appreciate the feedback, thank you. So sorry for putting it where you can't access it - I assumed thats how they were communicated last time. My bad! I can send you a copy first thing tomorrow morning. When is the meeting? As for the edits: If a pop-up just needs to be migrated from one time point to an earlier time point due to the initial edits being proposed to occur too late in the video, how much rework does that create for you all? I'm happy to review the proposed edits a bit closer with the idea in mind that we should minimize the adds.

lzim commented 5 years ago

@jessfroe

@staceypark @ritahitching @dlkibbe @branscombj

Theses videos have now been reviewed by Team PSD over several passes, so we need to simply get the last reviews and edits done.

@jessfroe @ritahitching This quote below from Ann seems very important, because we don’t usually use Excel to capture language, since it leads to serial review that can quickly get out of sync. Who can take a pass of the Excel sheet for this very important note from @Annhier ?

please make sure that any wording used for popups is VERBATIM exactly how the team wishes it to be worded, punctuated, capitalized, etc. I think the graphics artist took all the wording, spelling and punctuation directly from the excel sheet last time, and it appears there are some issues with it, so we want to avoid that.

@branscombj and @staceypark can you review the depend_products cards to ensure only “essential” edits are listed?

lzim commented 5 years ago

Note re:

@branscombj and @staceypark can you review the depend_products cards to ensure only “essential” edits are listed?

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Hi @lzim, @jessfroe and team! Okay, after the call today I went over the latest excel sheet that Lindsay linked to me on the call. First of all, thank you for making it so clear! I think what we can do - as discussed for the sake of time - is address the "edit pop-up," "remove pop-up" and "shift screen" or "screen transition" corrections, while not the "add pop-up" additions/new popups. Let me know if that makes sense to the rest of the team! Thanks!

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Oops, did not mean to "close" the issue. :) You would think I would know github by now.

staceypark commented 5 years ago

@AnnHier just sent you the updated video edits. Sorry for the delay - I know I promised them yesterday

AnnHier commented 5 years ago

Got it - thanks!
