Update PDF documentation generation #55

Fix a bug in the generation of version.tex.

Switch from the antiquated path latex -> dvips -> ps2pdf to calling just pdflatex. Mimick hevea's -fix in the Makefile.

We can bag in some minimal benefits with the microtype package.

The next step would be to introduce hyperref as suggested in #11.
However this requires a trivial but global search/replace/rewrite in text.tex, which I'd like to postpone until #21 has been merged.
