I'm a user of Ubuntu Mate 24.04 with the issue of encrypted archives As it fixed in release 1.28.2, I want to use it. But, after several attempts, I'm unable to compile the release from the source. => Can you edit the first page in order to add details instructions for Ubuntu Mate to build and use the last release from source please ? Then, I will copy paste instructions to our community forum here

I am not working on Ubuntu MATE so cannot develop specific instructions for it.

In general, you need to install mate-common (it should be offered as a .deb) first, then build engrampa. If you want the caja menu item to compress files, you will need to install the development package (caja-dev or whatever Ubuntu calls it) as well, again this can be from a .deb

Mate-common hasn't changed much, so what you get from Ubuntu should be fine. Any post 1.17 version of caja and it's -dev package again should be fine, so if you have 1.26 from Ubuntu this should be no problem either.
