What is it ?
Engrampa is a fork of File-Roller.
Engrampa is an archive manager for the MATE environment. This means that you can create and modify archives; view the content of an archive; view and modify a file contained in the archive; extract files from the archive.
Engrampa is only a front-end (a graphical interface) to archiving programs like tar and zip. The supported file types are :

Dependencies
In order to build this program from the source code you need git installed and a working MATE environment, with the development tools installed properly.

git submodule init git submodule update --remote --recursive ./autogen.sh make make install
Notes
[Read-only mode] means that Engrampa may read the file type, but it cannot write to that file type. An example is ISO-9660 CD Disc Image (.iso) [Read-only mode]. Iso images may be read, but file(s) cannot be written to an (.iso).
