HBO Max is now "MAX" in the US #454

Hi there. The HBO Max addon still works in the US. But the website "hbomax.com" now redirects to max.com. So if the addon stops working for Americans one day, that is something it keep in mind. Perhaps you should roll out an update that responds to max.com if hbomax.com is not responding. That way, we're not gonna have that issue. Alternatively you could just create a separate MAX addon with the new MAX branding. The latter might be a better idea, as MAX combines all the content from HBO Max and Discovery+. So it might use a different API than HBO Max. Because when I search for Discovery+ programs within the HBO Max addon now, I get nothing.

thanks matthuisman for your work ! I was able to watch all the show i try to, the only thing now is out of your hands, it is WarnerBD are using widevine security, so if the device is not L1 compliant, no HD/FHD/4K quality available. Too bad that RPI doesn't have the certification

Yes, the seek problem is fixed in version 0.0.7 using the option "Remove Chapters" :+1:

Thank you, Matt, Paco8, baclayslb, and all that are helping with Max to finally leave the HBO Max. I have been with the issue of HBO Max not working with my account with HBO on Kodi since last year in the USA but did work in Spain and now it is working in the USA with Max. It has an issue with my Kodi 20 with fast forward on the House of Dragon's last film from the first session because it drops the ability to play after fast foward but that problem is my kodi 20 on my raspberry pi 4, which I have to update for Libreelec 12 for Kodi 21. Again, Thank you because I am going to able to see today the new House of Dragon from my TV.

You will need to follow this process (i have experiment it yesterday, this is why when i saw your error, it was the same as mine) 1/ Connect to an argentina VPN 2/ Start the Max application 3/ Follow the steps to connect to your account into the app 4/ Once you are connected (try to search or browse you should see the list of series, movies, etc). 5/ You can now turn off the argentina VPN 6/ The content will adapt to your real country you are living

After that, you will no longer need the VPN connection, the VPN connection is only required if the subscription and your living place are not the same, and this is only needed for the login process.

@fantuan86 No. Every location where Max is available should work. But like I suggested earlier, I believe it may be character related. Judging by your screenshot, your Kodi is set to Chinese, if I'm not mistaking. If changing Kod's language to English doesn't fix the issue, it could be that your Max password is in Chinese.

Nope, the beam_LATAM is referenced to latin america, because the subscription is based there, this is why At the first login, the connection IP need to match to the country you had subscribed

Thank you! Following your method, I succeeded. I'm not sure if anyone else has encountered this issue: when I use Kodi version 19.5 or higher, there's mosaic on the screen when playing videos. However, this problem doesn't occur with Kodi version 19.5.

its the exact same if your using a browser workaround = get a L1 widevine device (eg android box)

I've been getting a weird behaviour on my side. Been using it yesterday to watch some shows like discovery/hgtv kinda stuff. Those are shows with seasons and episodes. And everytime I reach the end of the episode, instead of closing the stream and going back to the choice selection, it loops back at the beginning. Seek behaviour still seems to behave strangely on my side.

100 days dream home season 1 any episode, they were all looping back to the beginning.

The new Max.com add-on is working in Hungary, but TLC, ID and other channel videos are not available from this add-on.

no workaround needed for the website or official apps, this is only when using the addon

Is there a list of inputs that effectively change the playback language? Entering the language code 'spa' under Default Audio does not work.

We have Sport menu on Max website. Sports access is available with a separate subscription and EuroSport programs and live broadcasts are available there.

Entering the language code 'hun' under Default Audio does not work also.

It's a two letter code. Enter 'es'

currently working only on fundementals. live channels / iptv merge intergration will come later.

@Paco8 Does it look like they always use cc in the url? Thinking that https://github.com/matthuisman/slyguy.addons/blob/master/slyguy.max/resources/lib/plugin.py#L344 may need to be cc instead of sdh

I have only tested with a few movies, but in the movie "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" the url with sdh works but it also works the version with cc. In some movies like "Dune 1" it seems only the "cc" version is available.

the content with both sdh and cc - is there any difference in the files contents? Is SDH without the "music plays" stuff? and cc is with it?

I was lazy, i suspect the playback info may contain the info / urls we need and then i just add those in and remove old instead of replacing existing.

@IceFreak66 I tested with remove chapters enabled, ffwd to near end of episode and it closed correctly. Without remove chapters, i cant even ffwd due to the seek issues with multiple chapters

Please make sure Remove chapters is enabled and then see if you can find a quick way for me to reproduce

I think it's not available yet, at least it doesn't appear here either. Only the Bookmark option.

@matthuisman thanks for all the development work! My MAX subscription is from Hungary, and I'm trying to log in to max.addon in Austria. The Android Chrome browser blocks it from here, but playing movies works with win10 Chrome. How should I log into the slyguy.max v0.0.8 addon with these conditions? Should I open a browser on the same (Android) Kodi 19.5 TV box and enter the codes there? Should I use a VPN? Or is it enough if I enter the displayed device code into a PC Chrome Browser? Thank you for your answers!

the addon doesnt bypass any geo restrictions. If MAX doesnt work in your country youll need VPN for both the browser to login and also the device running the addon itself

browser login from any other device. thats how its meant to work with their apps too as its a pain to type in username / pass on android tv etc

Hallo PilotIoTSystems, du schreibst aus Österreich, also gehe ich davon aus, dass du Deutsch kannst. Hier, wie ich die GEO-Blockierung erfolgreich überbrückt habe:

1 - KODI in Android TV-Box (hier brauchst du KEIN VPN): Anmelden klicken, dann Geräte Code, die MAX-App spuckt dir eine 6-stellige Nummer.

2 - Webbrowser (hier brauchst du JA VPN): Du aktivierst VPN mit Ortung in Ungarn, dann navigierst du auf max.com/signin. In der Webseite gibst du die 6-stellige Nummer ein.

Fertig.

Raspberry Pi doesn't complain L1 widevine certificate, which is needed to play in high resolutions in most of the streaming platforms

@NH3CL Perhaps changing the browser's user-agent string to mimic a supported platform within the addon could solve this. I do not know for certain though.

not sure if this has been documented anywhere else (I went through all the posts since the original release of this plugin and didn't see anything. but as of right now I've got v 0.0.9 that I pulled from the slyguy repo. about 98% of all of the subcategory options under 'series' or 'movies' return 'no items'

all I have been able to get listed is Mythbusters, and 'Gold Rush: Mine rescue with Freddy and Juan' under series->featured->Popular TV

everything else that I selected (now granted I have not gone through EVERY submenu under series or movies) returns no items.

attached is a log. I am using Kodi 19.4 but I will say I was able to play the one episode of Mythbusters and the other show without issue (it only listed 1 episode for each, but 1 is still better than 0)

a bit confusing and annoying is that when scrolling forward a few times or changing subtitles, the video always jumps to the random beginning. RPI4 + Kodi+ Libreelec 12.0
I don't know if it's an addon problem but the old one didn't do it
