does this happen very time or only once? This may mean that you are oom

shanghaikid commented 1 year ago

I tried twice, both time failed.

shanghaikid commented 1 year ago

Have tried the latest version, still got the same error. image image

jiaoew1991 commented 1 year ago

@shanghaikid Are you using the MacOS M1 environment? I also have a similar issue.

Yeah.

jiaoew1991 commented 1 year ago

The x86 + Linux version of Milvus requires CPU support for SSE4.2 or AVX instruction sets. It cannot be launched on MacOS M1 using Docker with an x86 image. You will need to wait for the release of the Arm version of the Milvus image in order to use it.

jiaoew1991 commented 1 year ago

BTW,I can't use it at the moment either. ┓( ´∀` )┏

@jiaoew1991 but why does the v2.2.x work ?

@jiaoew1991 but why does the v2.2.x work ?

Master uses Knowhere 2.0, while version 2.2 still uses Knowhere 1.x. What instruction sets does Knowhere 2.0 require?

@shanghaikid Looks like we introduce some x86 SMID in segcore for scalar indexing. Anyway, we will support ARM image from 2.3 to support Mac M1

xiaofan-luan commented 1 year ago

@zhagnlu is there a possibility we can fallback the avx512 to SSE if the system not supported?

liliu-z commented 1 year ago

Not 100% sure it is because of this. Do we want to support x86 image running on Mac or we are good to let the arm image do so in the future?

cumtsd commented 1 week ago

我遇到了同样的问题,x86服务器非arm服务器,也遇到了同样的问题。无法启动,无任何日志

xiaofan-luan commented 1 week ago

@cumtsd check your cpu type, if it's not a recent one (Support AVX512), you need to use latest 2.4. Some of the old milvus version is not compatible with old cpus without avx512

Finally, it runs properly! It was indeed a version issue. Thank you so much for your help!!!!!
