@jocke0...@gmail.com DD/AC3 is now supported for passthrough:

Yes please, the Chromecast UX is very incomplete without DTS-passthrough.
Original comment by geert.ve...@gmail.com

Indeed. The chromecast needs to either decode to LPCM or do passthrough. It's a
supposed to be a multimedia device!

Please add this feature, it's holding me back on watching a lot of videos!
Original comment by gust...@gustavo.ca

Please add this. It doesn't make sense to give us AC3 support but neglect DTS
when just as much media is encoded with this format.

We need DTS for chromecast. I wanna wach mkv videos with dts Codec.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree - I have Plex and have a lot of DTS files, all get
transcoded to AAC by Plex (not by Chromecast) and I cannot hear the orginial
soundtrack.

Please add support for DTS-Passthrough immediately. This is an essential

buyed Chromecast today. I have many video files in my computer and pretended to
watch them on my TV. As Chromecast promised to play my videos on my tv and
since Google seemed to me like a reliable company i bought it.
Result: I cant play over 90% of my MKV files which are 99% of my video files.
I'll have to consult it with my pillow but taking it back to the store seems
very probable right know

Can people just star the issue (top left of the screen) instead of replying,
it's the star count that gets it attention from developers, not the number of
times people say they want it in comments.

Original comment by vadda.sc...@gmail.com

This is a feature request people. Make certain you click the STAR icon in the
upper left of the screen to show Google how popular this feature request is.

Boo...
Original comment by cdambro...@gmail.com
on 14 Jan 2015 at 11:10
Google said the same thing about AC3 passthough support. They said it was not
supported official after it was requested. Months and many stars later, Google
enabled the AC3 passthrough feature. DTS will happen, keep staring this feature.
Original comment by ch...@cotehome.com
on 14 Jan 2015 at 11:13
Unless it's been implemented, I really don't think "Done" is an appropriate
response to this issue. "Not going to happen" would be an appropriate response;
not liked, but applicable. "Done" implies that a task has been completed, which
certainly does not appear to be the case here.
Original comment by john.jab...@gmail.com
on 14 Jan 2015 at 11:38
"Won't Fix" was how the AC3 request was originally labeled/dismissed by Google.
I think Google only knows the difference.
Original comment by ch...@cotehome.com
on 14 Jan 2015 at 11:42
Done? Seriously?
If you're not going to fix it, I think "Won't Fix" is the correct response.
Having said that, as a developer, if I ever closed a defect with either of
those responses and didn't give a good explanation, I'd be in trouble. ;)
Is the problem just resources, a limitation of the hardware, a royalty issue,
etc.?
Thanks for any further insight you can provide.

Like a guy said before, they did the same thing with AC3 and later implemented
it. So, our best bet is to keep adding star until it makes it important enough.
