Cant Launch ED Engineer #310

Closed TheFalkenrath closed 6 years ago

TheFalkenrath commented 6 years ago

Hey guys, came back to ED after a few months break, launched ED engineer and it updated, followed by not launching. Last time this happened I found the original application (cant remember where) in Program Files or App Data and launched from there, no problem. Except any ED engineer folder I now open is completely empty, Minus the start menu folder. Any help would be welcome!

msarilar commented 6 years ago

try to uninstall like this :

image

and reinstall afterwards

BarryCarlyon commented 6 years ago

I also have this issue.

I uninstalled and reinstalled (via programs list)

I did see the "release notes" then language" and "notification" setup then nothing

msarilar commented 6 years ago

make sure the application is visible here:

image

if it still doesn't show, you can also try the "Reset Window Position"

BarryCarlyon commented 6 years ago

There is no Taskbar icon.

And nothing in Task Manager to indicate the program is still running.

It appears in Task manager for about 20/30 seconds then disappears. But only in background processes list

msarilar commented 6 years ago

Could you search for EDEngineer logs in the event viewer? Windows+R: image

image

there might be some clues for what's going wrong

BarryCarlyon commented 6 years ago

we got some. Fetching logs now

msarilar commented 6 years ago

could you upload your logs as a zip file here?

No problem. Here :) ErrorLog.zip

msarilar commented 6 years ago

No sorry I meant your logs from Elite Dangerous, i.e. the journal logs (see the path I've added)

JohnXaverius commented 6 years ago

msarilar commented 6 years ago

Cheers, I've just published a patch that should fix the problem let me know if that's all right now.

Seems there's many new ingredients that EDEngineer is not aware of, you'll see them in the Unkown category (the ones that the app doesn't know about have an interrogation mark ? instead of their rarity and their name is the technical name appearing in the logs).

I think at some point we might want to add them to the entry list like the thargoid materials https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/blob/master/EDEngineer/Resources/Data/entryData.json#L1130

JohnXaverius commented 6 years ago

Now working properly. clipboard01

Okay, So I went ahead and tried to boot it this morning again before going through the steps in this thread, this time I got an (published above i suspect) update, after the update ran successfully error that was submitted to windows, apparently I failed to take a screen shot but this is what the log showed. Let me know if more information is required.

@TheFalkenrath so this is a different issues than the one the other guys got ; looks like an issue with your settings. Did you try to reinstall just in case it solves the issue?

sandosan83 commented 6 years ago

pourrais tu m'expliquer comment faire.?

merci d'avance!

after several months of absence on ED, I wanted to go back there but when I install ED engineers it does not launch and seeing that I am bad at data processing I did not understand how to use the fix which you published.

essayez de désinstaller comme ceci:

image

Elite Dangerous.zip

msarilar commented 4 years ago

stoun09 commented 4 years ago
