Infinite loading screen #622

Downloaded the app, install went fine, chose language, closed patch note, chose no voice, got an infinite loading screen (black rectangle with orange EDEngineer and windows loading animation).

Tried all the troubleshooting twice, nothing works.

Any idea ?

Would you mind giving me a little bit more informations ? I'm not familiar dealing with logs and files. (Computer aren't my field of work.)

Which logs do you need and how do I get them ?

The directory should contain plenty of files with names like Journal.161030193855.01.log. The folder is usually C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous but it can vary if your install is custom (on a secondary SSD for instance).

Here are my last logs from yesterday.

I just tried again and the app still doesn't load. I don't even have it in the tray icons or task bar. Just the black rectangle with the orange EDENGINEER and the loading animation. I can only kill the task to close it.

No problems for me with your logs. Try to let the app loading a few minutes, a friend told me that the first loading can be very long If not, try to delete all the content of that folder and restart the app C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\EDEngineer What version of windows are you using? Are there multiple users sharing the same computer?

Hi! I just wanted to put here since the OP never checked in. I was having the same issue, and @jpacelli62 was absolutely correct. It was an issue of impatience. App took approximately 5 minutes to load on its first launch. Haven't done more than that yet, so will check back in if long loading issue persists.

EDIT: After attempting to unlock the window, it did go through another long loading phase. However, I am now able to easily start, lock, and unlock the app without any major loading times. It does stutter a bit on initial load, but obviously that doesn't impact the performance of the app.

Confirm what @Seqan01 said, new install (went fine) on a Windows 10 Enterprise build with security (SmartScreen, UAC, etc) and firewall all disabled. Loading screen for 6 and a half minutes. My broadband is 1G up and down. No error messages, no event viewer messages. Just "hung"? at loading. Works fine afterwards. Subsequent restarts takes seconds.
