Always Stuck With Default CMDR No Matter What #662

I KNOW I have the correct directory, I have tried reinstalling, Restarting my computer, completely deleting all of EDEngineer's files, Installing on different drives, running as admin, looking for the default.json file (which doesn't exist on my machine) and pretty much everything I can think of but EDEngineer WILL NOT recognize my Commander, it always has Default CMDR. I have no idea what to do, I was using this program just fine until my new computer, and now it doesn't work. Can anyone please help me?

From what I can tell, there seems to be an issue with either how the program is attempting to read the journal.log files, the aggregation.json, or the API just isn't working.

When I tried pasting the aggregation.json from my old computer onto my new install of EDEngineer, it recognized my old commander's progress (from April 2021) but setting the program to refresh data resets everything back to Default Commander and I have no engineering progress.

same here, seems its having trouble reading newer journals for some reason (just to note, it randomly stopped updating my files at some point... same laptop ive been using for ages with edengineer no issues until now)

I pushed some change to the log parsing logic recently in order to not hold everything in memory - that might have broken things

Initial loading is ok but live reading is not is that correct?

The whole initial reading is zero stats for all mats and CMDR showing as Default since you pushed the memory fix i was having.

EDIT: this is my first time using it so i have no old data.

EDEngineer loads up just fine. I can import settings and load shopping lists, but the program is seemingly stuck in default with no reading of any player information. The bottom of the program states default location as Sol and year 9999 with no current, or live updates. My commander information won't load, and all cargo/data is marked as unread and zero.

Relogging into my character after updating EDEngineer worked for me. My issue is fixed.

Fix downloaded, relog everything, restart comp, still same result after update. No commander, last upd 01 jan 9999. There is correct path to folder with necessary files... all looks fine but not working

Just launched EDengineer showed only CMDR default, so i started the game but EDEngineer is now not responding, im assuming it is going through my journals. My journals are 4 years worth and played almost daily since last 2 years so they are a loooot.

Gonna wait it out and see if it eventually works as its using some CPU while being unresponsive.

EDIT: IT WORKED!! i gave it like a good 15min to do its thing and now everything is loaded up and showing right. I think a load bar of some kind to tell user its loading would be nice.

Looks like I am still experiencing this issue. I am still stuck with a Default CMDR and no data on my profile at all. API is launched, and my cargo is not being tracked. Current system still set to SOL and year is 9999

It happened to me as well so i closed the game restarted EDE and let it sit in the back ground for 15min or so and then it loaded up everything.

Im glad everyone else is having their program work now, but the original reason I opened this issue still doesn't appear to be solved for me. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but EDEngineer just refuses to read my .logs or something. I still always get the Default CMDR.

If it makes you feel any better, its still not working for me. Loaded it up yesterday after a fix, it worked until sometime before about an hour and a half ago, when I opened it again, and its no longer working and im back to the original issue.

UPDATE: it takes about 10 minutes to load and does not update automatically

What I don't understand is I'll leave the program open for hours and nothing will change. I will force reload of all data, and try opening/closing the game and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't know why my specific client/situation seems to be the only one not working. I have tried a complete reinstallation, all the Troubleshooting options, and installing on different drives but nothing works for me.

I have exactly the same issue as Mitsukiri. I have recently changed from XBox back to PC. I only have one day of logs and I have the problem where it shows Default, based at Sol, and year is 9999. I've verified the log is definitely in the location shown in bottom right of EDEngineer dashboard.

Is it worth attaching my journal log?

EDIT: Very weirdly after I chose 'Reset Window Position' on the settings it is now working. Might be very coincidental.

Hi Max, I started the app but it didn't force an update, so I uninstalled and grabbed a new installer. Unfortunately, I still have the same issue where it shows CMDR DEFAULT.

Is there anything I can send through to help pin down?

you don't see your commander when clicking the commanders list at the top of the window?

Is there a way I can download an older version so I can actually use the app, I only play on horizons so I dont need any of the newer Odyssey changes

EDIT: Ive discovered that EDEngineer only updates on game startup and launching into the game, open mode is the only that ive tested

I rolled back the changes to logwatcher, should fix the issues you're having

that means the oom issue is back, i'll check if I can find an alternative (meanwhile if you have that crash just back up your logs and move them somewhere else if you want EDEngineer to work)

NO CMDR Default, but got my own cmdr back :)

that means the oom issue is back, i'll check if I can find an alternative (meanwhile if you have that crash just back up your logs and move them somewhere else if you want EDEngineer to work)

The Rollback has solved my issue! I now have all my information loaded, including my commander, cargo, data, etc.

Thanks for looking into it.
