I will investigate this today. You are probably correct that there is some Windows changes not being handled by zVD.
Are you on the Dev Channel? I can't get on that channel unless I install Windows 11 on my main PC which I don't want to do at this time.
I didn't think I was on the dev channel but I just checked and I am.
I will keep an eye out for changes in the beta build. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
+1 for this, not able to install on dev channel
I am getting this same error after an update to Windows 11 was installed last night. I am on the beta channel.
I just downloaded and installed Windows 11 22H2 22581.1 and tested in a VM. I did get an error too so I tried to examine certain Windows APIs and some are missing. I'm not sure if these just didn't get published in the beta version or if Microsoft is making significant changes to the APIs.
The APIs needed for zVD to function are undocumented and as such are subject to change at any time. I will continue to look into this to find a solution. I'm hoping the original APIs come back.
I am now having the same issue as of Windows 11 update last night.
Edition Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 Installed on 4/17/2022 OS build 22598.100 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22598.100.0
Hey @mzomparelli any updates to share?
I've noticed updates to a few projects that make use of some of the updated Windows APIs in question
Certainly understand that it's difficult to support users on Win Insider releases, but I'm pretty selective with the closed software I choose to buy and I was hoping to continue using ZVD within a few months or so of breaking issues. Hopefully we can hear some signs of life here soon and thanks again for all the great work thus far
I will take a look at insider again to see what I can find.
Have you tested these other projects to work on Win11 insider?
This is using the interface changes that I identified and provided to them: https://github.com/MScholtes/VirtualDesktop/blob/master/VirtualDesktop11Insider.cs
The highest version in this project is 22000 which is the same interfaces I'm using, but I do see this project is more updated so let me try to catch up: https://github.com/Grabacr07/VirtualDesktop/blob/master/src/VirtualDesktop/app.config
I just published 1.0.98.12 for Windows 11 Insider builds > 22000
I can't test this because I still don't have Windows 11 installed on my PC and it will not give me Insider updates in my VM.
I'm searching for a Win11 iso I can use to test with.
I found the iso and it's downloading now so I'll be able to test this soon.
Alright guys, version 1.0.98.13 is tested and working on Win11 build 22621
Just ran it on Win11 build 22621.1 and it works great again! Thanks!!
Wow amazingly fast response and release, was able to successfully install ZVD on current win11 dev build 25131.0 Really appreciate it thanks again!
@ev-dev yes, only 108 days to resolve this :)
@alexander-paterson you opened this issue so you'll be glad it's finally resolved.
@MrYutz making sure you see this too
Hi.
I force updated zVirtualDesktop on Windows 11 ( 21H2 22000.675) and it stopped working.
After restarting Windows and starting zVirtualDesktop again, the process no longer appears in the task manager and does not work.
Is there any configuration I need to do to recover?
@nekowasabi build 22000 should use the Win 11 21H2 build rather than the insider build. Looks like I have it forcing updating to the insider build. I'm trying to resolve this now.
@nekowasabi 1.0.98.14 fixes the issue with Win11 build 22000 - download any version from the website and when launching it will ensure you're running the correct zVD build and if not will download it.
@mzomparelli It worked.Thanks!!
Thanks @mzomparelli
I had downgraded Windows to get around the issue.
Just upgraded win11 last night, and zVirtualDesktop this morning. Confirmed working on:
Major Minor Build Revision

I'm trying to install the program, I downloaded the main version I guess from the website by clicking the download button. When I try and install it I'm getting shown an error message.
I am running the insider build of Windows 11 so I then downloaded the Windows 11 Insider build but I'm still getting the same error when I try and install.
I'm running Build 22557.ni_release.220210-1445 of Windows 11.
I'm just assuming since this is just a new build released earlier this week the program hasn't been updated to work with it?
