After my laptop was updated to Windows 11 23H2, zVirtualDesktop will not run. I get the error: Download the version for your Windows build 22631. I've tried several of the versions available on the shared OneDrive folder, but each give similar results. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Can confirm, same issue here.

I will look into this tonight.

mzomparelli commented 9 months ago

I'm still working on this. It's not as easy as it has previously been and it's not clear yet what even is the issue as it appears none of the interfaces have changed.

I have pin-pointed an area where it's failing, but still not sure why.

I get an AccessViolationException when calling IVirtualDesktopManagerInternal.GetCurrentDesktop()

This exception is usually indicative of the signatures being wrong, but like I said, it appears the interfaces are the same. Even the same guids.

Is this still a work in progress? I just had my PC force update and I find myself out of luck today aswell with this

Same issue

@mzomparelli just curious if you managed to figure out what causes the crash?

mzomparelli commented 6 months ago

My PTO has been pushed out to mid January due to my workload. I will dig into this again during my PTO. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. I know how frustrating it is that we haven't figured this out yet.

@mzomparelli No worries - just was curious. Happy new year!

I'm on Win 11 23H2 (Build 22631.3085) now and zVD stopped working again. I get the "download for your build" message and the "manifest" message, then zVD stops.

On Build 22631.2861 it worked quite well. I always got the "download" message, but it worked after clicking OK. Occasionally the "manifest" message appeared, stopping zVD from working. This happend when I started zVD via Task Scheduler right after Windows log on, so I scheduled it to run 2 minutes after log on and then it worked without the "manifest" message.

Rolling back to Build 22631.2861 for now.

BTW I was using the 22H2.exe. Tried the Insider, didn't work either.

After rolling back update KB5034204, zVirtualDesktop_Win11_22H2.exe started working again as before. I'm on Win 11 23H2 Build 22631.3007 now.

julianq commented 5 months ago

@mzomparelli Just wanted to report that the latest version for 22H2 works for me as well (running 23H2 22631.3007 same as @0oNine). I do get the popup asking me to run the version for my build but after clicking 'ok' the app runs and works as expected.

julianq commented 4 months ago

@mzomparelli Now no longer working for me again - 23H2 22631.3155. Getting the "app manifest" popup.
