Hi, we need an update on Xcon for sky go app, I updated the app and now it's saying it will not play because iPad is jail broken. Much appreciated

Up until recently I was using the patched version of Sky Go (that was available via the n00neimp0rtant repo on Cydia). That had been working for a couple of months. Periodically, the app stopped working but reloading the .ipa sorted it out. That has stopped working now (even after reloading the .ipa). I called Sky and played dumb saying that it had stopped working. They said that I had to update the software as the new Sky Go Extra service meant that an update was required.

Would it be easier to patch a recent version of the app, rather than update xCon, or is it just s difficult either way?

I'm going to 2nd Tomdotcom with that. Wouldn't it be better to patch the latest version as it has all the mod cons like Sky Go Extra & the option to download our movies/program's aswell as the fact the up2Date version has the kids Channels too...

Does the old skygo work if you change the version number in ifile to the current one

If it's like the DirecTV app they probably changed the URLs to break various versions so I doubt changing the plist would help. However I was speaking with another guy and he happen to notice something on another app that may or may not apply in this case. Once I get all my devices resetup i'll be able to implement his findings. Just keep in mind it may or may not cover SkyGo.

Here are a couple of links for an old version of SkyGo which has been patched so that it appears to be v3 along with a version of XCon that works. Looks like the very latest beta of XCon breaks something with SkyGo which results in an error code 9 - video unavailable.

Actually I need to try pulling out some new code i've been working on in the betas. That may or may not fix SkyGo. I was able to safely pull it out of the DirectTV app to fix streaming so it may be the same case. Once I get my devices set back up i'll be making some changes again.

I forgot to add that DirectTV and SkyGo apps look very similar as far as JB Detection so it is making it easier to patch certain things in these apps.

Thank you very much antlane. I've just got skygo working on my iPhone 5. It crashed a couple of times on opening but it go there in the end. I also have the FullForce tweak so I'm watching it on the full iPhone 5 screen. Thank you so much again

I can't take any credit! The app was patched by - I think - n00neimp0rtant and Lunat1k is responsible for the latest XCon updates so please direct any thanks to them.

Lunat1k - did you mention you were working with Saurik to try to work out how to fool apps they were still sandboxed? Did you get anywhere wiht that?

Yes I used them files and they worked on my iPhone 5. It does crash a couple of times on opening but it gets there in the end

iFunbox is the best way.

Nah, iFunbox isn't letting me instal that .ipa onto my iPhone 5. Are you running iOS 6.1? And uploading it to User Applications?

Click on the 'manage app data' tab then click on intall app. Then locate the file and install

I don't have that tab. I am using the latest version of iFunbox for Mac. I can attempt to install, it starts up, then it gives me an error (e8008001).

Looks like there may be some magic in the works from reading this thread, so I'm going to hold off on the older version of Skygo and wait for this one to get fixed.

Yeah, that is the icon I have been clicking on. It starts up and then throws an error up at me (e8008001). Maybe the Mac version recognises it as an iPad ipa and won't instal it. :/

Its the features of the new one I like, on demand (downloading) correct res for iPhone 5 as well. For now I have un-jailbroke my iPad mini just to get skygo back. iPhone remains jailbroke but really hoping for a fix :)

Get AppCake from cydia then put the ipa in there using iFunbox then install it from AppCake

After a bit of googling have you got appsync installed. That might be why your getting the error

@antlane the piece that saurik has been helping me on is hooking into instructions. However because of arm vs thumb it's rather challenging to get it working all the way. It works for some stuff but not other stuff. And sometimes other stuff it makes it worse.

Hi I'm new to this site and new to jail braking. My sky go app wont work on my iPhone 5 running ios6. I've tried xcon and flex with no look. I've tried n00neimp0rtant.dyndns.org/repo/ hoping that it mite go to app cake to down load sky go app but it didn't . Anyone no maybe how I can down load this anywhere other than instalous. Un jail breaking your ipad mini? I thought of it but its not worth it at all. A jailbreak is much valuable then sky go. Sorry but true.

The 2.3 version works fine looks around the web for some tips. Bassically you need need xcon, appsync, and patched IPA. Only problem is it doesn't fit the iphone 5 screen but works perfectly.

If you've done it right your issue may be related to the managed device limit. By trying 3.0 and then the 2.3 IPA it made me add the phone as a new managed device.

Add that it installs 2.3 xcon Cydia ipa installer I think. I've tweeted him. He said I must have xcon installed of modmyi but I don't. I'm awaiting reply to thought I'd ask on here

Add source in cydia and download sky go patched app. It will automatically install everything for u. Make u sure you don't have xcon and sky go app from apple store in stalled.
