Project Analysis

As part of your pre-work submission, please reflect on the app and answer the following questions below:

Question 1: "What are your reactions to the Android app development platform so far? Compare and contrast Android's approach to layouts and user interfaces in past platforms you've used."

Answer: I've experience in developing iOS but have more experience in developing Android. Comparing XCode and Android Studio, Android Studio feels easier to setup and get started. Probably due to more experience in developing Android, connection between UI(Layout/View) and code is more clear in Android. It was more difficult to make a connection between code and Storyboard in XCode. However, iOS libraries seem to be well maintained and reference is easier to find.

Question 2: "Take a moment to reflect on the ArrayAdapter used in your pre-work. How would you describe an adapter in this context and what is its function in Android? Why do you think the adapter is important? Explain the purpose of the convertView in the getView method of the ArrayAdapter."

Answer: Adapter is a glu between ListView and items data. convertView is used view that can be reused in the ListView. Adapter can fill the items data reusing the 'convertView' to avoid creating a lot of new view objects.

Notes

Instruction was clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed writing the Project Analysis since it gave me the chance to look back and understand the Android library deeper. It took me relatively long time to create the video walkthrough.
