Marak commented 8 years ago

What is problem? I download and use app. It works.

carlosbaraza commented 8 years ago

@francwalter made me laugh with his comment.

The application works. However, it is always interesting to have an active repo manager. At least to merge the PR.

TimonVS commented 8 years ago

I'm a bit concerned, @naotaka hasn't shown any online activity after november 2014. Not on GitHub, his blog and Twitter.

Seacidal commented 8 years ago

The lack of updates (versions or info) leaves me uncertain if ClipMenu is compatible with Yosemite. And if so, which version? I see versions 0.4.3, 0.4.4, and 1.0? Which to use? and how do they differ? Thanks.

francwalter commented 8 years ago

Yes this application still works even on 10.11.3. I tested 0.4.4a12 which is working and was the last beta. The 1.x is crippled, long not finished new version, lacking important features and as ClipMenu is dead (hopefully only the app) and the source code for the 1.x is not published, I used this 0.4.4a12 before. But I switched to Copy'em Paste since some months, quite better, not abandoned, but 10$.

coccoinomane commented 7 years ago

I am using the compiled version 0.4.3 from the website (http://www.clipmenu.com/) and it works quite fine on macOS Sierra (10.12.2).

mkjaer commented 7 years ago

I found a fork of this project called clipy which is still being maintained. It fixes the issues I had with ClipMenu like not being able to paste in the snippets.

harman28 commented 7 years ago

Dropbox download links are no longer working.

ahmetb commented 7 years ago

@harman28 I wonder if we can set up a mirror URL and get that accepted into the Cask repository. I have it installed on some of my machines. It should be possible to pull the .dmg.

EDIT: Folks please just use Clipy.

harman28 commented 7 years ago

@ahmetb I think the fork that is maintained at Clipy works great, and so that might be unnecessary.

ceyzaguirre4 commented 7 years ago

@ahmetb Ive been looking all over for clip menu, by now it was an essential part of my workflow. Many others probably think alike and would benefit from the publishing. Something as simple as a Dropbox link should solve @harman28, my own and others problem finding the app.

BecomingDitto commented 7 years ago

@ceyzaguirre4

I happened to have a copy here. You have to gunzip it, since github won't allow me to attach just a .dmg file.

ClipMenu_0.4.3.dmg.gz

jonathanfann commented 7 years ago

i hope everything's alright with Naotaka, but checking out Clipy now.

mtt05001 commented 7 years ago

Never realized how much I loved Clipmenu until its gone...

francwalter commented 7 years ago

Since a while I bought "Copy'em Paste", which is the best clipboard app I know for Mac. EDIT 22.12.2018: Still very useful and far better than ClipMenu. It's under constant development and gets even better and better.

bakari45 commented 6 years ago

@BecomingDitto, thanks for posting the download. I wonder if another developer could take over the application and keep it updated. It looks like the original developer is MIA.

jonathanfann commented 6 years ago

@bakari45 https://clipy-app.com/ is a fork that is now maintained (github link: https://github.com/Clipy/Clipy). i've found it to be stellar so far.

Pragad commented 6 years ago

Does the version available here work on High Sierra (10.13.3) ?https://github.com/naotaka/ClipMenu/files/1093000/ClipMenu_0.4.3.dmg.gz

Landius commented 6 years ago

@Pragad Yes, It works ( can't believe! )

yueim commented 6 years ago

10.13.5, not work.

yueim commented 6 years ago

amazing. after remove all history files in ~/Library/Application Support/ClipMenu, ClipMenu works perfectly again.

broqdev commented 6 years ago

this is a masterpiece. became a fan since I use Mac. blessing Naotaka. no matter where you are.

bzx commented 6 years ago

@cnyyk

after remove all history files in ~/Library/Application Support/ClipMenu, ClipMenu works perfectly again.

Tried that in Mojave with no luck. Moving to Clipy.

yueim commented 6 years ago

@bzx Should try AppCleaner to clean all files except ClipMenu.app. I am using ClipMenu on Mojave perfectly.

bzx commented 6 years ago

@cnyyk thanks for the tip, from the quick test it seems it's working!

hopper48 commented 6 years ago

@cnyyk when you say to "try AppCleaner to clean all files except ClipMenu.app" you mean clean all the 'caches', 'preferences' and 'crash reports, etc, as show here: https://i.postimg.cc/mgVKS5X4/Screenshot-2018-10-29-19-25-49.png

If not, could you please tell me which files I need to clean and whether it's using appleaner and uninstaller, in order to use clipMenu with Mojave?

Thanks!

jvreeken commented 6 years ago

I can't seem to get it to show up in the menubar... 10.13.6 I have tried using app cleaner to remove all files except the app.

yueim commented 5 years ago

always works fine, always, now I'm using 10.4.1

bzx commented 5 years ago

I have been using 0.4.4a on Mojave and it's not working fully. The menu shows up, but I can't paste anything from the list – I have to click the entry, it doesn't paste, but it moves it to the top of the list, and only then I can use the CMD+V to paste... Quirky as well, right now for some reason I can't see the "Preferences" and other entries which are usually below the clipboard entry list.

I think it's time to move on.

rgl2811 commented 5 years ago

I found a solution. Go to Preferences/Security & Privacy/Accessibility. Select the privacy tab and allow ClipMenu. After doing that, it started to work.

bzx commented 5 years ago

@rgl2811 What you're describing is actually a requirement for the app to work, and I've got this setting enabled since the beginning. My issue is still there, and it's really annoying. I'm moving to Clipy.

yueim commented 5 years ago

@bzx

  1. Try to remove existed configurations via AppCleaner
  2. Try to use official release 0.4.3 from http://www.clipmenu.com/

wx20181216-094801

@hopper48 try these tips listed above.

yueim commented 5 years ago

ClipMenu is really amazing. Still woks perfectly with latest macOS 10.14.2.

wx20181216-100255

bzx commented 5 years ago

@cnyyk I'm on 0.4.4a and your tip about removing previous config doesn't work - it's still buggy. Gotta find 0.4.3... Found, and it's better. We'll see.

joanjgm commented 5 years ago

Clipy doesn't seem to work to copy/paste images, or at least I can't preview them the same way I did with ClipMenu

Edit: Clipy 1.1.5 works flawlessly

giiska commented 5 years ago

So that's the reason I come back to watch this issue again.

ckizer commented 5 years ago

Anyone able to get ClipMenu to work on MacOS 10.4.4? It says it's running but I can't get the interface to come up. I have the menubar item hidden.

I tried clipy but it just doesn't work with images like ClipMenu

Clipy exact version 1.1.5 works flawlessly

Actually, ClipMenu always works like a charm(I'm on 10.14.4 and 0.4.3)

  1. Should try AppCleaner to clean all files except ClipMenu.app.
  2. as @rgl2811 mentioned: Go to Preferences/Security & Privacy/Accessibility, select the privacy tab and allow ClipMenu. After doing that, it started to work.

I found a Clipy as reincarnation of ClipMenu.

ckizer commented 5 years ago

Use Clipy instead. I don’t know why this awesome app would be discontinued. Someone should make a pix version I’d pay $99 for a modern update.

Another great option is the Copy Less 2. I really liked it and its features.

ckizer commented 5 years ago

Never seen that one. Checking it out now. I really wish Apple would just built this into the OS.

What I love about Clipy and ClipMenu is they are completely invisible unless you hold a special modifier key. This should be built into the OS.

My personal favorite is Copy ‘em Paste, it costs 16€ but it is worth it: it has favorites, named clips, full text search, works with images, customizable shortcuts even for single clips, iCloud sync...

ckizer commented 5 years ago

Oh I really appreciate everyone sharing. I’m going to check them all out. My fear is Clipy won’t be maintained and like clipmenu it will cease to work.

I have just found out about Clipy today. I'll be using it for a while.

I have in the past opted to have Clipmenu in my dropbox, version 0.4.3 that works perfectly even on macOS Catalina (I'm a beta user)

@naotaka 🔥👏
