Dear people,

When I have a cold start of my car, and navit/gps planned my route ... my sound announcements won't speak 🙂 .. if i use the tracking options cdf histsize and routepref.. in navit.xml

when i remove the tracking line my speed warner does not work at all...

(see image)

It would be lovely to have sound announcement on ánd speedwarner.. with or without tracking options on. IMG_20200218_195025 navit.zip

Is it a bad setting in navit.xml or a little bug?

I see. :) Pulled

By the way, new problem.... I cannot get my navit updated to the newest 0.5.4 on Raspbian 32 Bits / Pi 4B 4GB. It still keeps stuck at 0.5.3 - maybe they do fix some issues in the newest release but I cannot even contact them at Facebook at the moment..

Sorry, but i was busy last days :)

I'm using a normal laptop with linux mint and i am using the daily ppa from: https://launchpad.net/~trldp/+archive/ubuntu/navit-daily

The ppa is only working on Ubuntu based distros, not on debian.

The problem with the multiple points is there because the multiple point navigation isn't the focus of Navit i think. But that is only when one point is not exactly on the road i think. i will test it little more :).

@Geeviz : how did you installed navit on you're device? Sometimes it is better to completely remove the previous installation before you trying to install a new one. But i think the problems that we described here are still there i am using the newest 0.5.4.

P.S.: @JohnK-sljkrr : Welcome to our little therapy group ;P

Strangely I did wipe navit completely several times, but when I do apt-get install navit it still keeps at 0.5.3 :)

Is there a repository that you are using ? is it debian buster?

ghost commented 4 years ago

I use Raspbian Buster (stretch) .. It's a Debian based OS .. https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/

I don't know.. what a repository is.. I always install my apps with Apt-get :-) silly me

Termalator commented 4 years ago

no problem but i think there you got the problem. Debian repositories are mostly not contain the newest versions of software. Debian is build more for stability then actuality :). But i will take a look on a test system.

Termalator commented 4 years ago

i installed debian 10 and the repository version is there the 0.5.3. I don't know if there is a navit repository but you can do it like here: https://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/Raspberry_Pi

But if the 0.5.3 is working fine for you, then just use the repo version :)

It's a bit of lot of work to completely remove 0.5.3.. I'll stick for now onto 0.5.3 since it is working okay enough :) with your tricks. I think

I know another culprit of not talking voices the first couple of minutes when I start the car and navit. When the GPS isn't connected a long time it looses more the less all it's memory. It takes several minutes before I have satellites (gps fix) and after that the talking is fine. Mostly the Gps does store it's information a couple of hours.. (is my experience) :D

Sorry but i was little bit busy last week :)

Yes it is a problem when the GPS-signal is not good or not available, but that is a problem of the most navigation tools. The "turn around" problem seems to be also temporary but it takes a long time before the system is recognizing the route for me it took about 20 minutes, but only one two times it was able again to announce the route, so it is only a guess :).

I think there is just a problem with one timeout after you are leaving the calculated track and it should be simple to correct that but i may be wrong and it is more complicated.

Unfortunately I don't have enough time, I don't know enough about C programming to find the error.
