Select file range is missing #1425

With the creation of albums it is necessary to add the option of selecting a range of files to add. If you want to add 100 photos to an album you need to click 100 times on corresponding checkboxes.

hansixxxx commented 1 year ago

I miss that feature too... is there any other way to select a batch of media and add it to an album?

verymilan commented 1 year ago

Lack of this is an actual dealbreaker for me. Either range or/and choosing a directory that should become an album (which i would prefer, actually)

hasezoey commented 1 year ago

i would also like to see it.

here is how i would like to see it implemented: like google photos (the web app), where you can hold shift after first selecting the starting point and it will make a range until shift is released and on hover show all the things that will be selected. or for mobile view, also like google photos (the app this time) you can select one as a starting point (by holding it) and while still holding it drag to where the range should be (also showing the ones that will be selected).

Please add. This is totally unexpected. Everybody who ever wants to create a picture album would expect a simple way to select many pictures.

Current state: One needs to click these tiny check boxes on EVERY picture. WTF. grafik

Missing this feature, too. I would like to create albums in nextcloud, but it's too much pain selecting every single photo.

Any news on this?

Something that might make the current process at least a little easier:

Instead of having to aim for the checkboxes just allow clicking anywhere on the picture. This dialog is specifically meant to add pictures to an album.

If you want to keep the full view capability, swap places function-wise: Clicking on the picture selects it and a smaller button in the corner (similar to the current checkbox) allows viewing the picture full screen.

This idea is of course no replacement for a proper range select.

Hi @artonge @skjnldsv, would it be possible to increase the priority of this feature?

Hoeze commented 11 months ago

@skjnldsv you are listed as maintainer to this application. Are there any plans on adding new features to the Photo app?

Blueforcer commented 8 months ago

Is there still no range/select all feature, im currently trying to import 25k from my google photos wich are sorted into many albums. So i really need to klick 25k times!?

I recently switched to https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/memories which does support range select. For me, it's a superior replacement to the builtin Photos app, which I disabled now.

Maybe this helps others as well.

Alseenrodelap commented 5 months ago

Apparently the maker of the app never uses it him/herself and misses any feeling of priority for this. Whenever adding more then 10 photos multi-select is unmissable. I'm also changing to the Memories app which at least seems maintained.
