Descenders Modkit

Scripts for modding Descenders and a split timer system

A Modkit for the game Descenders that accurately records and displays split times for a track, display on leaderboard, as well as many other [quality of life improvements]().

Installation

For players

To load the Descenders Modkit onto your map (without adding scripts into unity)

• Open a map that loads the Descenders Modkit
• Leave the map back to the mod menu
• Open your map
• The Modkit should be loaded

Once you open a map that loads the modkit, the modkit is loaded for the rest of the time your game is open (most features are disabled in career). The Modkit will completely unload when you quit the game, it used to load forever but this caused issues for some players. Any problems let me know.

For contributors

There are 3 main parts to this modkit:

• The Server that handles HTTP and socket requests from the client and communicates with the database.
• Client loaded scripts that are injected into the game in order to communicate with the server.
• Unity project that contains the assets and scripts that are loaded into the game.

• Timer that records split times for a track
• Boundary detection for times on a track (with manual verification possible via a replay)
• Leaderboard that displays times for a track
• Leaderboard that displays times from speedrun.com for a track
• Bike switcher (use caps lock) that allows you to switch between bikes (including bmx)
• (map-specific) Gate that is synced between players
• (map-specific) 3D Text of the timer
• Stats modification for the bike (acceleration, airFriction, rollResistance, etc.)
• Fix for music repeating constantly in mod maps
• Adds discord rich presence for mod maps
• Mods in the mod browser order alphabetically
• Remove mod of the year leaderboard from 2020 from the lobby
