Wordris: A Tetris-like game with letters instead of shapes.
The value my project will provide: I anticipate my user base will be poor school children, in need of entertainment while at the same time strengthening their spelling and grammar skills.
List of Base Features:
Bricks, each containing a letter, will travel across the canvas, from top to bottom, one at a time.
The user can move the falling brick to arrange the bricks into words.
Valid words formed will cause their bricks to disappear, and any bricks on top of them will then resume their descent to the bottom of the screen.
Valid words will have their definition(s) displayed.
Non-words will cause the bricks to accumulate and once they get past a certain height, the game ends.
Words will be validated initially through a call to a Entity Framework DB. This DB stores valid and invalid words. If not found a Dictionary API will be contacted and, depending on the result, will then be written to the valid or invalid DB table.
The player’s score is increased based on the value of each letter making up the word.
The High Scores (and their associated Usernames) for the game will also be stored in the DB.
The largest word ever created in any game will be stored and shown.
List of Stretch Goals:
