MARC 511 punctuation #191

Conversion of field 511 (Participant or Performer Note ) strips parentheses, which changes the meaning of the data.

511 0_ |a Nirvana (Kurt Cobain, vocals and guitar; Chris Novoselic, bass; Chad Channing, drums. [Note the data error here: omission of the final parenthesis.]

bf:performerNote "Nirvana Kurt Cobain, vocals and guitar; Chris Novoselic, bass; Chad Channing, drums." ;

Nirvana is made up of the musicians Cobain, Novoselic and Channing. Without parentheses, it can be read as though Nirvana performs together with Cobain, Novoselic and Channing.
