Stable release #30

This pull request closes off the sprint (and more).

Historical note: this is version 2.0 in the git repo. There was no 1.0, but there was a 1.0 of the manual. This keeps the manual and the git tags in sync.

One comment here: suggest we revert to v1.0 as we haven't had a proper 1.0 release (1.0 was just default value from sphinx)
