Deploy to readthedocs.org instead of S3? #7

Seems like they have free GitHub webhooks and provide an excellent service - why not use it for this?

Issue is how would we do multiple languages?

timClicks commented 12 years ago

+1 from me. @rgrp was fairly keen to have a wordpress front page. That may be more difficult at readthedocs.

readthedocs supports multiple versions really well. don't know about multiple languages though.

As an option, we could just create /de/, /en/ pages within the manual itself.

We've agreed not to do the wordpress front page so let's forget about that. We will just deploy sphinx stuff.

timClicks commented 12 years ago

Missed that decision.

btw, getthedocs does support multiple languages as well as multiple versions.

Have enabled webhooks so that the readthedocs site is updated whenever something is pushed into master.

Hi Tim. Please can we move this to okfn account on readthedocs if we are going to deploy. I can liase with you about this.

Closing as have now redeployed to http://opendatamanual.readthedocs.org/ and have updated webhooks. Plus readthedocs now building (cf #13). However, note that we are not planning to use ReadTheDocs for primary hosting at the moment because no way to deal with i18n or to have a common landing page (instead will stay with s3).
