Welcome to the OGC GeoPose SWG GitHub Repo.
The https://www.ogc.org/projects/groups/geoposeswg[GeoPose Standards Working Group (SWG)] is working under the auspices of the https://www.ogc.org/[Open Geospatial Consortium]. The purpose of this SWG is to develop a standard for geographically-anchored pose (GeoPose) with 6 degrees of freedom referenced to one or more standardized Coordinate Reference Systems (CRSs). The proposed standard will provide an interoperable way to seamlessly express, record, and share the GeoPose of objects in an entirely consistent manner across different applications, users, devices, services, and platforms which adopt the standard or are able to translate/exchange the GeoPose into another CRS.
To determine how well the proposed standard works in real world spatial computing scenarios and to assess its ease of use for average developers, there will be multiple https://github.com/opengeospatial/GeoPose/tree/main/Implementations/[implementations] and use cases examined.
The SWG will then examine whether the proposed standard maintains interoperability with the OGC Standards Baseline and assess whether extensions of existing standards could achieve the goals of GeoPose.
⚠️ The https://docs.ogc.org/dis/21-056r10/21-056r10.html[OGC GeoPose 1.0 Data Exchange Standard] has been approved by the OGC Technical Committee as an OGC Standard. Based on evidence of at least 3 implementations, the specification was approved as an OGC Implementation Standard.
This repository holds the latest Editor's Draft of the specification and reflects the current agreement of members of the https://www.ogc.org/projects/groups/geoposeswg[GeoPose SWG] who have been actively working on the document since January 2020. It is provided here in order to solicit feedback and inputs from those who have need for the specification and plan to implement it but are not participating in the OGC GeoPose SWG.
The official HTML version of the GeoPose 1.0 Draft Standard can be found on the https://docs.ogc.org/dis/21-056r10/21-056r10.html[OGC website].
The OGC GeoPose SWG is currently developing a pair of informational guides and a set of sample implementations which will be made public on GitHub. The guides will support reviewers of this specification and those who seek to implement it.
The OGC GeoPose SWG is the group at OGC responsible for the stewardship of the standard. As of our publication to this repo, the SWG will do as much work in public as possible.
If you have input, comments or feedback for the SWG's consideration, please begin by reviewing the http://github.com/opengeospatial/GeoPose/issues[open issues]. If there is already an issue with your question, concern or input, please respond or discuss in the issue. If your input, feedback or question is new (not captured in a prior issue), please open a new issue.
The GeoPose SWG will promptly review open issues and address or reply to new issues in a timely manner.
If necessary, make a branch from the "working" branch of this repo. Make any changes to your own branch of "working" Pull Requests from contributors may only be made on the "working" branch. Please note that by sending a Pull Request or Commit to this GitHub repository, you are agreeing to the terms in the [OGC GeoPose SWG Observer Agreement].
The contributor understands that any contributions, if accepted by the OGC GeoPose SWG, shall be incorporated into a final OGC standards document and that all copyright and intellectual property shall be vested to the OGC.
