openooh / venue-taxonomy

The intention of this project is to standardize the list of venue types that represent Digital-Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising screens within a programmatic OpenRTB 2.5 context. The systematization of DOOH venue types will allow for clearer targeting by media buying platforms across a spectrum of available supply-side platforms offering DOOH inventory.

Add grandchild to outdoor.urban_panels

Currently no grandchildren exist under outdoor.urban_panels. Would it make sense to add

Shopping Street: outdoor.urban_panels.shopping_street (Ströer example) Shopping Promenade: outdoor.urban_panels.shopping_promenade Public Park: outdoor.urban_panels.public_park

I think the question here to me seems to be if the primary split should be "Outdoor" vs. the topical categories. E.g. are all the other categories inherently "Indoor" ?

"shopping street" and "shopping promenade" I would expect to be under "Retail" - similar to "Mall" - to me they seem very similar, and might possibly be very similar to what is contained in a mall - but not under common ownership? Or a shopping area at say DisneyLand can either just group itself with all the other Theme Park bits - or break out a region primarily identifying as one of the above?

"public park" to me seems more suitable as either a child of "Sport Entertainment" or possibly "Recreational Locations"

@jayshao I think you made a valid point here. That puts the entire category "outdoor" in questions. In the first place I thought that outdoor screens are probably different in terms of technology and viewing angels etc. but that starts to fade away. Long story short.. if we add the following Ströer should be satisfied:

@kroening-stroeer could you help provide some blurbs for definitions? In particular, to your mind what is the difference between a shopping street vs. a promenade? vehicular vs. pedestrian traffic?

kroening-stroeer commented 3 years ago

@jayshao sure

There was discussion on this in the last call - and a feeling that this perhaps needed more definition: is this just an urban panel? or a shopping mall? does a shopping mall need to be enclosed? outlet mall is a mall, but a high-street is urban panels?

For now, punting to 1.3 for consideration
