Additionally, as the list grows, it would be beneficial to add a description to each child. As a buyer new to DOOH it gets confusing what is billboard vs. poster vs. wall.
We need to add a description explaining what criteria need to be met for a screen to be assigned such a child.
Isn't "poster" (and "bulletin") a size of billboard? If so, I don't think it makes sense to have "poster" as a child of Outdoor, as that would make it a sibling of Billboard. That said, they don't really work as grandchild under "Billboard" with the existing roadside vs highway grandchildren.
The current spec has spectacular under billboard (outdoor.billboards.spectacular
). That said, spectaculars are such a unique and different venue type compared to billboards. In casual conversation, in my experience when someone is talking about billboards, they rarely are lumping in spectaculars. So I could see an argument for moving this as a sibling to billboard.
-1 unless we have a clear description of what differentiates a "wall" or "spectacular" from a "billboard". I agree with Nic that if we're categorizing "wall" / "spectacular" as distinct sizes of billboards then they should be 3rd level venue types.
I agree with the negative sentiments - I actually think mixing in formats (what I would call "asset categories") and the locations/contexts in which those formats occur was potentially a weakness of the original spec, and not one we should further.
It might be interesting to have some kind of parallel taxonomy for type of presentation - maybe a triad: the venue/context, the type of installation/asset, the creative format (e.g. what you can display there)
+1 on the confusion caused by mixing formats with venues.
Proposal to add "Street" as a child to Outdoor. This is related to but an amendment to https://github.com/openooh/venue-taxonomy/issues/5
