openooh / venue-taxonomy

The intention of this project is to standardize the list of venue types that represent Digital-Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising screens within a programmatic OpenRTB 2.5 context. The systematization of DOOH venue types will allow for clearer targeting by media buying platforms across a spectrum of available supply-side platforms offering DOOH inventory.

As more kiosk type inventory is opening, more screens are becoming available in other retail environments beyond "malls", "grocery stores", and "pharmacies". Looking to expand the child venue types of "Retail" to reflect that.

Proposal: "Retail: Automotive" (e.g. Jiffy Lube, Car Washes, Auto Repair, etc.)

Working definition: "A retail shop the sell automotive supplies or provides automotive services"

Not sure how best to "plus one" this but just sharing that we've had a couple of publishers streaming video in auto dealerships and parts centers looking for a suitable venue type. Thus, we (Yahoo) would support the addition of this one.

The only question I have is would this include the actual sales of the car itself? The proposed definition seems to focus on the "shop" supplies & services.

I have a +1 for this - some context:

auto category - today we have kiosks/placed-based in ventory located in autozones, discount tire centers, etc and the closest category used today is 'retail_gas stations'
