One of the sacrifices we had to make when implementing the new facet filters was to reduce the discoverability of some of the categories you can search for.
For example, when trying to filter by Therapeutic area, it might be hard for a user to find what is the list of available therapeutic areas. A user can guess that oncology could be a therapeutic area, but in fact the TA is named cancer or benign tumor.
Similarly, in some of the tractability categories, it's hard for a non-initiated user to guess what the categories are. They would have to have a deep understanding about what the potential options are.
From a UX perspective, it would be good for us to think what the options could be to improve this functionality.
For example, one possibility could be that when you select a category in the drop-down (e.g. therapeutic area), the dropdown automatically displays with an empty search to that category. This will automatically display some options and the user can either start typing in the search box or select/scroll down in the dropdown. Just an idea. It would be good to have everybody's input here.
