"Defend" freaked out last night #30

I was out cold when it happened, but Ivy started to scream through the speakers upstairs (volume too high!) last night asking for the upstairs hallway lights to be turned on. (At least that is what Olivia and Elliot told me)

They said that the lights were stuck in the on position.

There was a similar incident a few nights ago that caused me to shut the system down. I added checking that was a little more robust (try communicating with the bulb ahead of time.)

Something that both incidents had in common was that I had the Playstation Vita by my bedside and I was downloading a game. I know the Vita connects on 2.4 GHz which might conflict with the Zigbee system.

My working hypothesis is that the Hue system got disturbed and that caused "Defend" to freak out. I know everybody was mad about this and Olivia said that this incident might be a "tipping point".

This can be attacked in a multifaceted way.

(1) I think the hub would work better if it was moved a little closer to the center of the house (2) "Defend" has to be able to recognize the "Hue system glitching out condition" (3) "Defend" should make sure the volume is reasonable (4) "Defend" could shut up at night (5) I would love to get comprehensive logs when this happened.

I am doing to do some cleanup (resolve #30) and think about getting defend to run at stage 4.

Note i did a complete software update of all my hue parts. Hopefully that will help.
