Shortcode support #102

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Add shortcodes, so various bits can be included in pages/posts.

Short codes needed for:

- A single job
- List of jobs, with options for Categor(y/ies), and to limit number of jobs

Other ideas:

- List of applicants
- List of employers

I'd also welcome the idea of being able to insert a short-code into posts/pages
so I
can list jobs containing specific text - i.e. those in a specific location.

I'm wanting to add pages with details of that City/County and list jobs on the
same
page which are available.

Thanks

That's an interesting idea, I like it. It'll be in 0.9.

My ideas (may or may not be original, mentioned earlier):
- users can edit their details inside the user profile page
- admin can add additional details added to an application that can't be seens
in the
front-end or on profiles
- front-end viewing of all applicant profiles, searchable, etc
- A simple "print this application" function for admins- I do like the CSV
export,
but the email doesn't work (for me)...see below:

Warning: Illegal offset type in isset or empty in
/home/adameppc/public_html/avanti/wp-includes/cache.php on line 314

Thanks for the feedback!

1. User profiles will be coming in 1.0.
2. I've added commenting on applications in the upcoming 0.7, was there
something
else you were after?
3. Coming in 0.9.
4. If you click on Application Details, there's a printer icon at the top of the
application, you can print from there. Alternatively, just click the print
button in
your browser.

Interesting error, I'll see if I can track down the problem.

Hi Gary

What an awesome plugin....you are a genius

With a little fiddling I was able to get the application running very smoothly
except
for the email section...as mentioned by adam above.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll see if I can track this down. Could you tell me:

- What version of WordPress you're using
- What theme you're using
- What plugins you're using

I'm travelling for the next few weeks, so I may be a little slow to get onto
this -
if you have the time to help, could I get you to go through each of your
plugins,
disable them one at a time, submit an application, and see if the error occurs?
I'd
like to see if there's a clash between Job Manager and another plugin.

Hi Gary

Thank you so much for your time with this matter

Answers:
I am using Wordpress 2.9.2
Piano Black Theme

Plug Ins:
Akismet
Contact Form 7
Job Manager

I deactivated Contact Form 7 and the same issue was received and then
deactivated
Akismet as well and the same issue was received.

I juts need to check that I am doing the email request the right way. I go to
Job
Manager - Applications and select the applicant and then choose 'email' from
the drop
down list and then select 'apply' ???

I trust you enjoy your travels and I look forward to hearing from you when you
have a
chance

Warm regards and safe travels

I get the same error messages mentioned above when trying to use the email
function -
- i.e. selecting applications in the "Applications" list, then selecting
"Email"
from the Bulk Actions drop-down. This is on a fresh install of Wordpress 2.9.2
with
version 0.7.4 of the plugin and no other plugins activated.

I receive an email when an application is submitted, so I know that much is
working.
But being able to email several applicants at once from the admin backend would
be
wonderful.

I think I've found the bug causing that error with the emails - I'll release
0.7.8 with the fix in the next couple of days.

Hi Laurence

I have managed to hack the plugin and get a short-code working so i can post
into pages/posts. This is limited to categories atm. Do you want me to post the
code to this?

Also like many others I might go and add a few new features as this is a great
plugin. Just missing some useful features.

Nick

go to 'frontend-shortcodes.php' and add the following code to at the bottom.
This may not be the best way of doing this but it works for me.

// Create shortcode for Jobman Category
function show_current_jobman_category($atts, $content=null){

extract(shortcode_atts( array('id' => ''), $atts));

    $cat = get_term_by('slug', $id, 'jobman_category');
    $posts = jobman_display_jobs_list( $cat->term_id );
    echo $posts[0]->post_content;

}
add_shortcode('jobman category', 'show_current_jobman_category');

Shortcode e.g. for Admin:
[jobman category id="admin"]
