Hi there, I'm so glad you've reached out to me about your project. I've taken a look through your information page and some of your code and it looks great!
I've always been looking for a better way to calculate zone watering times, and the FAO-56 method you use looks like a far better solution than the simplistic calculations the plugin uses at the moment.
I'm also pleased to see that in addition to changing the calculation method, you've been able to adapt the plugin for your use-case using dummy sprinklers.
Whilst I would like to continue using the HTTP-based controller mechanism to control the zones instead of dummy sprinklers, I would like to integrate your calculation method into this plugin as it will give more accurate zone watering times. It will be a while before I can do this, but when I start I'll be looking at your information page for guidance on calculations!
Hi Tom, Thanks for your revert and kind words! Always happy to help on the calculations behind it.. whenever you get to it. Took me a while to figure but the research helped me understand the principles of irrigation so much better! Hopefully will get time to build a wiki around this in due time..
Thanks, Mayank
Hi Mayank, thanks so much for your offer of help on the calculations when I get to integrating it into the plugin, I'll definitely take you up on that at some point! I'll have a read into some of the research documentation linked on your information page as well. Do keep me in the loop with your project :)
Best, Tom
Hi @Tommrodrigues - couldn't see any other way to reach you but I used some of the code in your plugin to create a different weather adaption mechanism to expose dummy sprinklers with a great deal of granular control per zone.. something that can help users automate even dumb valves through any smart plug or outlet. Not sure if its appropriate to post the link here but would really appreciate a few minutes of your time to take a look at the information page if that OK with you. Please advise if I can share the link any other way...
