Could you please check again 42East? Digitalbitrate.com has captured it again.

jpuigs commented 1 year ago

I can't get any signal. digitalbitrate shows it now at 10958 V, instead of 10953 V, but it's impossible that "new" frequency.

ON 10958 V. there is a TRT signal, SR 6250, which carries 2 biss encrypted channel feeds.

And we shall expect the forthcoming nationwide Polish mux (R1) also on satellite, probably on 23.5 East, where lots of analog Polish radio feeds are. Its tender has just started, but the provider is still unknown. So we will see in future ...

http://www.archiwum.krrit.gov.pl/AdvertismentsSync/Main/0/235/og_220215_mux_r1_6_miejsc.pdf

Currently, there is package on 7E (DVB-MPE format) at 12.515 GHz, pol. V, SR: 1303, FEC: 3/4; DVB-S / QPSK. BTW: Please don't translate proper names like Jedynka.

and:

Additionally to PID 7031, DAB Italia got the old PID 777 on the same transponder on 9E.

It may be possible to use an SDR to receive the DVB-GSE encapsulated feeds - i.e. the two German national muxes on 23.5°E 12641V SR 1500 and NRK on 0.8°W 10720H SR 5400.

The Germans with SR 1500 are low enough bandwidth to even be receivable with a cheap RTL-SDR stick (which are also used for terrestrial DAB reception of course!). A source for LNB power would be needed, for example a cheap DVB-S/2 receiver with a loop through socket (SDR connected to the loop out).

Two GNURadio projects exist -

https://github.com/igorauad/gr-dvbs2rx

This processes DVB-S2 and includes decoding baseband frames, maybe an output of this could be piped to bbfedi2eti

Then there is also -

https://github.com/drmpeg/gr-dvbgse

This states that it can process GSE data, and that it is possible to use the first project (gr-dvbs2rx) as its input. I'm struggling to understand how the output of this would then be read, I guess it would work in a similar way to dvbnet does for the MPE services (e.g. French m1+m2 on 5°W and the German regionals on 7°E).

Needs more investigation of course, I want to try and receive some plain DVB-S2 via my RTL-SDR stick (using a satellite receiver as LNB power as described) first to see how it all works.

andimik commented 1 year ago

We also got that working with an SDR, see https://github.com/pabr/leansdr/issues/16

Please note, that I only could test it offline, not live reception.

And you need an SDR that covers the high frequency of around 2 GHz which lots of the tuners can't.

E4000 or HackRF should handle that.

mrwish7 commented 1 year ago

That looks great, thanks for the link @andimik

I'd completely forgot about the high frequency cut-off, I remembered a little while after posting. My RTL-SDR is one of the newer v3 ones that cuts off at 1766MHz, but I have a HackRF as well in any case so that should be suitable.

mrwish7 commented 1 year ago

Success with the HackRF! I wrote a little tool in GNURadio to record ~2MHz of IQ centred on 12641V (for 23.5°E) to a WAV file, which leansdr then successfully decodes to BBF, which bbfedi2eti decodes successfully.

Happy New Year 2023, Guten Rutsch!

I've been reading the above regarding DVB-GSE via the TBS6903X, and trying to help someone lock 1°W 10720V with his TBS6903X via Team Viewer.

Can someone confirm whether hardware or driver modifications are needed for the GSE BB frames to be passed through properly? Or should some of the Linux drivers just work 'out of the box' now?

We have been trying -

dvblast -s 5400000 -v 13 -f 10720000 -m psk_8 -3 -a 0 -1 171 -u | (sleep 10 && ./pts2bbf) | bbfedi2eti -dst-ip 239.199.2.8 -dst-port 1234 | dablin_gtk

Trying with tune-s2 gives a successful LOCK message, and SNR of around 12.0dB. Trying with dvblast as above give lots of the following error message -

warning: transport_error_indicator on pid 280 (..., sid 0)

Then dvblast tries to re-lock after a few seconds, and the process repeats. Data is being passed through, but pts2bbf doesn't manage to decode it, so bbfedi2eti and dablin receive nothing. It seems like from the message above that the data is being passed through via pseudo PID 280 as expected, but it's either corrupt or partially missing.

He has the deeptho branch of linux_media drivers installed - https://github.com/deeptho/linux_media/ , are different ones needed? (I use the 'plain' open source tbsdtv github ones, but I don't have a GSE-capable card anyway).

We are also going to be able to try with his TBS6909X, but I suspect we will get the same problem.

Hint: For DAB Italia and EuroDAB on 9° East please don't use the Service IDs DAB Radio Italian 1 and DAB Radio Italian 2, as they contain the PID 8191 as well :-(

In some cases (depending on software) you will record the NULL bytes as well.

basicmaster commented 1 year ago

as they contain the PID 8191 as well :-(

Well, this is not entirely correct: The services don't refer to the PID 8191 - instead the field PCR_PID is set to 8191 = 0x1FFF, according to the standard: "If no PCR is associated with a program definition for private streams, then this field shall take the value of 0x1FFF".

In some cases (depending on software) you will record the NULL bytes as well.

Do you have an example? I would be surprised if a software recorded the filled PID due to such a PMT...

Thanks, I tried again with tune-s2 and dvbstream like you suggested. I also modified pts2bbf for PID 280 rather than 270 (it seems like the driver in use is giving the data on pseudo PID 280). I then got data coming out from pts2bbf, but unfortunately it still seems to be corrupted, with bbfedi2eti giving this error multiple times -

EDI: packet is unknown: ..

before stopping with a segmentation fault.

I guess the linux media driver in use is to blame.

andimik commented 1 year ago

@mrwish7

Dear Adam, for me there was no need to modify neither the Linux driver (it uses PID 270 in my case under Linux) nor the software. PID 280 is used in Windows, but the output is corrupt. The following screenshot shows the PID-analysis for the Linux capture:

grafik

You could skip some Pseudo-TS frames before processing with pts2bbf: dd skip=188 (or multiples of 188) as sometimes the header is corrupt. I get the message from time to time, too.

Could you try this file? It's older, but currently I am writing this on the wrong PC. nrk_23nov2020_copy.zip

Dear Stefan,

My Enigma2 satellite receiver with OpenATV has recorded PID 8191 as well (and ignored the PIDs 7031 resp. 7131, which carry the DAB ensemble). I was a bit surprised as my 30 min recording was several Gigabytes big ...

grafik grafik

I had to patch the User bouquet and overwrite the PCR entry 8191 by 7031 resp. 7131.

grafik

Only then it works:

mrwish7 commented 1 year ago

Thanks @andimik

I can confirm that your file works perfectly (nrk_23nov20_copy.ts), but data from my contact's TBS6903X seems to not be working.

Looking at the file in TransEdit (with PID280 confirmed), I can see that a lot of packets are missing -

I'm more convinced that this is an issue with the deeptho version of the drivers if the regular TBS ones work just fine. I will have to see if the guy I'm helping can swap over to the regular ones to try instead.

Thanks,

Adam

Well, one idea is to use GRUB2 and boot into a different (previous) kernel and install the TBS driver there. So he could select which driver he wants (Norwegian DAB with GSE <-> neumo blindscan) at the start.

I have removed some fprint comments from bbfedi2eti and got the following values for your file.

I have recorded a stream with crazyscan under windows. I also cannot make any of the dab programs work on that stream nrk20230107_crazyscan.zip

And here is a linux stream with the neumoDVB drivers (unprocessed data as it comes out of /dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0)

nrk20230107_linux.zip

(I edited the link because previous file was the wrong one)

neumo drivers have been updated and all of this works now on tbs6903x and tbs6909x

In Tork's slides there is a hint on page 20 that Australia uses DAB (MPE) feeds, too. As all satellites are below the horizon for us Europeans, I just can say there are (hidden) PIDs on some Optus satellites which are similar to the French solution or have at least a constant bitrate.

== I've just checked 12518 H 1125 and all of the radios are working as before, without any problem. They're all 128kbps AAC, and require mpe2aac to decode the audio stream. It must be a receiver configuration problem.

Some regional Italian DAB feeds should be available at 9E 12149V stream 101 and 102: https://www.digital-forum.it/showthread.php?39806-FEED-DTT-di-EIT-RaiWay-Persidera-su-5W-e-9E&p=7717959#post7717959

Unluckily I have no way to check.

andimik commented 1 year ago

No, these are tests so far, but not with an existing ensemble. I will observe and update the list as soon as tests are over.

andimik commented 1 year ago

The tests are ongoing, now both streams contain RADIODIG UMBRIA, but I personally think this still will change as it makes no sense for this duplicate.

andimik commented 12 months ago

According to this PDF https://www.worlddab.org/system/news/documents/000/013/684/original/PR-Paneda_-_2wcom_-_AUCOM_-_KNET_Ghana_Final_2023-09-20.pdf?1695201981 the new DAB mulitplex from/for Ghana 🇬🇭 is on satellite, of course on an African beam, most probably on 28.2 East, I guess on 12645 V, DVB-S2X/16APSK (but I could be wrong).

If someone has found it, please share this information.

[...] has provided a complete audio over IP contribution system, from studio encoders to the centralized multiplexer platform as well as satellite distribution to the DAB transmitters around the country.

Already checked at digitalbitrate.com for normal DVB-S2 transponders on several satellites, but no additional PIDs have been added recently. Therefore, it might be an SCPC signal in DVB-S2 GSE like NRK and Riks from Norway or Bundesmux 1/2 from Germany.

Regarding Saudi Arabia I could not find any press releases and therefore it's unclear if they use IP or satellite link.

Maybe we can expect two more muxes from Nation Broadcasting (🇬🇧) on 10E for Muxcast Hull and Muxcast Southampton in the next months?

See https://www.nationplayer.com/muxcast/

And on 9E the RADIODIG UMBRIA has been switched off some months ago, I forgot to report here. Therefore, the README.md has never been changed luckily ...

In Spain, DAB coverage was reduced to only Madrid and Barcelona areas in 2011. This year, some "ilegal", "unofficial", or let's call "unplanned" Muxes have started in some spanish cities, Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, Murcia, Malaga, Tenerife............ If you look at digitalbitrate.com, the only "legal" DAB muxes are 3 ones from Barcelona and Madrid. (called MF1 MF2 and FU-E). Now, spanish public broadcaster RNE has told that plans to start again in some cities that were working before 2011, and some tests they have been seen in Zaragoza, Pamplona,..... So it's possible that the 3 DAB MUXES appear early next year on Hispasat, hidden inside some Abertis (Cellnex) Transponders............

andimik commented 9 months ago

I found the new forthcoming mux from WDR, which will operate on 9A in Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Because the upper Transponder 12645 MHz V on 23.5°E has been changed to a new symbol rate (2200 kS/s), FEC is 3/4 (= total bitrate is 3.041 MBit/s). No problem if you even use very old DVB-S hardware :-)

There is a PID 3000 carrying the existing 11D and the new 9A. The IP addresses are

228.10.1.5:10010 (for the existing one) and 228.10.2.5:10010 (for the new one)

There's a new multiplex on Astra 2 28.2°E 11425H, PID 1065.

For now it's carrying a copy of D1 National as on PID 1062, but the service label is "D1 Scotland", so it looks like they're looking to make use of the fact that D1 has a separate frequency in Scotland (12A) compared to the rest of the UK (11D). I guess we'll see some regional variations soon.

Yes, noted, first I thought it was a typo in the frequency, because the WDR Transponder is exactly 1000 MHz higher.

I don't understand your question, but I confirm the WDR signal on 19.2E is still on air and must work with even 20 years old DVB-S hardware. Because it is now the only WDR feed, as the old one on 23.5E has been switched off. Remark: Both German Bundesmuxes are still on 23.5E.

Furthermore, RAI has changed its frequency on 5W.
