We could also add 2d versions, which will be faster but less flexible, of course. The control rate versions might also be interesting, but I might need to improve them a bit since I think they're far from ideal performance-wise.

The simplex noise doesn't have a help file yet - but it's almost similar. For simplex, the values on each axis repeat after a value of 768 (whereas it's 256 for perlin).

Not sure if this is relevant here - but maybe interesting to know: simplex noise was patented. But it's obviously expired right in time: https://patents.google.com/patent/US6867776B2/en
