RE8 - full 3rd person FoV support #556

Open neatodev opened 1 year ago

neatodev commented 1 year ago

Right now the only way to change the FoV in 3rd person mode is by changing the global FoV value, which also affects aiming FoV. The other sliders do nothing.

Tested with the latest nightly build v1.331-74d68e4 (revision: 74d68e472931d04804f735ce6ab0676101f39b0b) as of writing this issue.

EDIT: I have also noticed that the ManualFlashlight function is broken for 3rd person.

He said he would fix it later: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/10015948-fov-slider-vignette-disabler-freecam-flashlight-re2-mod-framework/page-20#entry117124773

I'm looking forward to the 3rd person FoV support too.

FYI there is another mod, but can only increase FOV distance by 25%: https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevilvillage/mods/324

Still would like to see REFramework updated. I would like FOV distance more than 25%. Just 25% still makes me nauseous.

Just like the developer proposed in the nexusmods thread, I tried stable v1.4 and the Widescreen Fix, using a 2.500 value and without Vertical FOV enabled. It works good enough for me so far while waiting for full 3rd person support. I'm playing at 2560x1440.

The other mod I mentioned above only increased FOV distance by 25%. It was not enough for me. But using the Widescreen Fix in REFramework worked better for me for now. Only tested during first enemy encounter of the game.

EDIT: After playing to the first in game cutscene, the changed FOV messes up the cutscene. Everything looks skewed. Not sure if I will continue playing with this fix. EDIT2: Restarted the game and cutscene is now fine. EDIT3: I ended up also enabling the Vertical FOV option as well. Without it, the actions and items that appear on screen when searching an area (e.g. ammo, herbs, open drawer, etc.) do not show up near the borders of the screen, making it difficult see. I use FOV value around 1.9.
