Changes from failed #351 PR. #353

Dynamic soft dock and misc fixes and improvements.

Tests are passing on the server and the dev machine but there is still a dock failure happening on the VM.

VM dock failure seems to be resolved, but the fail is now sometimes happening on the dedicated server.

OR51E2 prediction succeeded on the laptop, but the VM threw a segfault. 😡

It's going to take forever to find that segfault. All tests have succeeded on the laptop including the propionate and hexenol predictions.
