sqlalchemy imports should be try/catch #124

In particular, in the run_db_interface, it is required if you use it, but shouldn't be if not doing db stuff... this goes with that much older issue about cleaner dependency/plugin structure, but this one is a bug because it breaks things...

this appears to be done, I'm not sure why this failed, maybe I wasn't running the current version?
