I'll merge this after it's confirmed to meet the needs of https://gitlab.com/libxc/libxc/issues/59 and https://gitlab.com/libxc/libxc/issues/60 .

I haven't tested it, but libxc-4.2.1 has a SONAME of 5 whereas PROJECT_VERSION_MAJOR sounds like it's just the package version, not the library version?

You're right. Fixed in latest commit: -- Libxc SO 5:3:0 and libxc.so.5.
