Is the hardware connection and using the python script necessary? I couldn't figure this out from the translation of the Russian readme.

(I've used your flasher before for ATC_MiThermometer line of devices, and there it exploits the factory OTA to OTA the custom firmware)

Initial firmware only via UART adapter.

Thanks, I flashed it. Just a note: I need to flash the full firmware with UART, as the web flasher was not detecting the BOOT-only device
