Its pretty sad I had to search the internet to find out the reason I couldn't
see the create new table button is because its not available to me. How about
putting a note on the webpage as to who it is available to. Don't show it
unless its available.

*again* I hit a critical feature which is not available for a managed domain.
What the heck, google? Those of us administering domains with google services
are the evangelists and advocates for your tools, why do we constantly get
these late or never, and with such poor communication about status?

Please restore this service or provide a viable substitute. Also a bit more
explanation of actions taken would be in order.

I'm assuming Google is either incorporating larger scope features into Apps
Domain Fusion specific to Apps for Business/Education integration or moving to
incorporate Google Cloud SQL with Fusion features. That would be what makes
sense. Simply removing Fusion and having nothing makes no sense. The real
problem is there is NO communication to customers as to what is actually going
on!

I'm excited to hear that you're eager to have Fusion Tables for your domains.

Since folks with Apps for your Domain are paying us real money, we take the
time to make double sure that all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed
for a product offering. There are some complexities involved in this for Fusion
Tables, and we're right down in the middle of them figuring things out. I'll
be happy to announce when we have something specific.

Thanks,

-Rebecca

I administer multiple domains. Fusion Tables are great in one domain that has
it. Another domain is newer, so doesn't have FT. Unfortunately, this means the
domains can't collaborate on shared FT's. (FT's can be shared, but the other
domain can't even open them.) Additionally, I'm part of a new google apps/.edu
doman- which has FT's on by default (Which is great!) However, it seems
strange that FT's are selectively available to domains, as chosen by Google,
and not available to all.
Please re-add Fusion Tables so all domains can collaborate!

This could be a HUGE service for academic and research based domains. Please
turn it on for new domains. This app is currently not available for the
University of Michigan. This could server as an easy and fast data management
solution for many projects big and small.

RE: Comment 19- Fusion tables are actually available for the University of
Michigan as part of the "extended services" (which aren't available to
everyone, depending on departmental/regulatory restrictions. That's a
different issue.)

However, this is exactly why it needs to be on for everyone. In FT's, we can
collaborate within an (academic) institution, but it's hit or miss whether an
outside domain will be able to join us. We don't know if we can collaborate
until we try and fail (or succeed). End users don't know if FT's are off or
on, and it leads to frustration, wasted work, and the use of other products
that do work for everyone.

Imagine if email worked the same way - you can send messages to everyone;
everyone can receive, but some can't read your message; you don't know who can
read your message until after you send it. (Plus, you don't know who will need
to read it in the future, and IF they'll be able to read it.) This is not a
good model!

When a FT is shared with a non-FT domain, users attempt to open it, but it
fails with an error message that the administrator hasn't enabled Fusion Tables
for their domain. The actual error is that "Google does not offer Fusion
Tables for this domain" (Don't blame the admin!)

To foster consistency and global collaboration, please turn on Fusion Tables
for all.

I was also very surprised to see that Fusion tables are not accessible to my
newly created Google apps for domain account, while it works great through my
free non-domain account. We were already using the Fusion tables until we
upgraded to apps for our domain, now we cannot?? Any word on when this feature
will be re-enabled for domain app users?

This inconsistency needs to be addressed, I have used Fusion Tables on one
Google Apps account in the past and now want to use it on a different Google
Apps domain and find it is no longer available for Google Apps domains.

Please make this a priority, FusionTables are an awesome technology, but they
will be far less likely to be used by developers if there are access issues.

Thanks.

It is desperately needed. Our company has been searching around for a way to
spatialize our data and being users of apps for business we did not realize
that google had such a perfect solution right under our noses. Then to
discover that it is unusable unless I use a non-business app account, like my
home account which I am currently posting with, is unfathomably frustrating.

Since it appears that rshap...@google.com is the project lead on this with
Google, can you provide any updates at all on the status of this project. I am
in desperate need of these tools on several App domains in my client base and
the lack of information here makes it impossible for me to plan to use Google
as the solution.

Once I am forced to use another tool there will be little or no reason to spend
the time and money to convert to Fusion tables no matter how much I want to use
them. Very disappointing since we suggest Google Apps for every client
whenever we get a chance to mention it.

I work for a Google Apps Reseller. Thankfully, large enterprises are coming
on-board with Google Apps ($1 Billion + in revenue in one example). I was
hoping to design an Apps Script to leverage FT in their domain.

Could a Google Engineer reply with a status for planning purposes?

I would love to see this available through our schools account. However, never
fear Tables Users, there is a workaround! Share a Table from your personal
account to your business or school account and viola! You have a Table, and in
some cases it even then enables the Create button.

I got the impression from google sales that they are more interested in selling
earth builder than actually letting fusion tables on the domain. Hope that is
not the case, because trying to train every customer we get how to use earth
builder is not the solution we need. Without fusion tables, we might be better
off using one of the third party GIS add ins, they work with bing too. I hope
google isnt going to try to force us all to buy earth builder, because its
going to be a sad day if they do.

As an individual who upgraded to a google app domain I'm shocked to see that
Google has blocked Fusion Tables. As to "please read comment 14" that's also
unacceptable. Really, saying that you refuse to allow your "paying" customers
to beta your product? Really? And please believe me when I say we all
understand that not all the "complexities" will have been worked out in a beta
product.

So please show us early adopters who took the plunge and gave Google a vote of
confidence by signing up for a domain the ability to use fusion tables.

Adding my voice to this one as well. While I'd love to be able to use Fusion
Tables from my Apps account, rather than my personal account, I can understand
that there might be implementation issues.

What I can't understand is i) the lack of any explanation: nowhere in the
documentation do I find that Apps accounts are denied Fusion Tables access, and
ii) the lack of any communication. You'd get a lot more patience and goodwill
if you attended to those two!
