maybe this has to come last.

desktop performance? actual camera? who knows.

we should find some inspiration videos to get an idea how we want to portray "the brand": https://vimeo.com/17414202 https://vimeo.com/105256055 (i like the humor - but idk how humor will function given our context)

i think a mix of screenshots and good quality footage of "happy people" could be interesting.

we should think about the primary motive of the video. obviously for like documentation/exposure, but what ways can we make it more engaging? (if that makes sense i.e, "The Angle")

[for memory later: the above vimeo links are to the satromizer and to miranda july's somebody app]

amonks commented 8 years ago

how can we make it feel like "all the cool kids are doin' it"

effincleveland commented 8 years ago

that should totally be the angle. who are the "cool" new media artists right now? (maybe there is something to learn; aesthetic/approach wise)

La Turbo http://turboavedon.com/ Yung Jake http://yungjake.tumblr.com/ Vince McKelvie https://vincemckelvie.com/

[see #6 for relevant thoughts on general documentation narrative] [regretting making two threads]

effincleveland commented 8 years ago

yeah totally, maybe two narratives (artist, viewer). parallel action?

shots: artist slavin away at photoshop something to indicate the artist wants an audience??? artist uploads gif viewer frowning at online ad viewer installs plugin viewer sees gif, posts it to facebook or something artist sees gif posted by someone else on facebook is happy -andrew

from #6, which I closed:

besides a website, what does documentation mean?

it'd be cool to have a video, which could mean a lot of things.

how do we get attention?

and

i think good documentation has a message embeded in it. like an advertisement almost. something to make documentation more engaging.

there should be some sort of like, interesting narrative element, something interesting that aligns with the functionality of the plugin; and potentially plays off the context of new media artist, or private art school, or both?

incentives

when I was thinking about that shot list / pair of user stories above, the only tangible incentive I could think of for artists was the facebook post.
