ok so one of the things that came up at SFN was the power of subsetting brain regions based on the known connectivity/circuits, for instance, 'somatosensory corticothalamic' : ['SR1', 'SL1', 'VPL', 'VPR']
this would be then done for all kinds of qualitative analysis: correlograms, PCA, graph-theory (non-linear multimodal analysis etc)
right now it is a nonissue for the correlograms as you wrote it so we input the regions and it labels with the regions which is nice *I would like to check that the order here is conserved in the order of input, then i guess the rest of the function should be written in this way....
