PROJECT JURUÁ
"PROJECT JURUÁ aims to develop a new form of multi-stakeholder community-led impact practices in one of the most biodiverse intact places on earth.
Nature-driven resource management is key to developing symbiotic relationships between community needs and reserve protection. Our work in the Juruá focuses on a small number of high-value local partnerships, rigorous scientific and research streams, and visionary survey strategies gathering evidence on the biodiversity richness, composition, distribution, and value of the region. Our next step is the establishment of large-scale community-led, privately protected areas and radical research design interventions.
INSTITUTO JURUÁ is a grassroots non-profit organization leading the fieldwork component of this project, formed by conservationists and researchers in close partnership with community leaders and local associations. They provide financial and technical support for community-based initiatives of natural resource management and offer capacity-building opportunities for local communities to help them sustainably manage their natural resources and protect their territory.
DEEP creates radical biodiversity platforms and is leading this project, working with next-generation local, national, and international partners to build global footprints. They deploy advanced tactics across the impact, design, technology, and culture to solve critical ecological pressure points and tell stories to inspire our deepest connection to the environment and ourselves.
DEEP is working on a range of symbiotic and funded actions in this region with stakeholders from community ranger programs, data scientists, conservation technologists, creatives, brands, institutions, and private funds.
This biodiversity survey has been supported by Puma and PAM."
